Haha, I didn’t hate The Hangover but I wasn’t as blown away by it as some people were. I think for me is that it wasn’t my first time seeing Zach Galafianakis, who I think is really funny, but I already knew him from Out Cold and was familiar with his schtick. I actually probably LIKE Out Cold more than I should because of it, haha. So I enjoy his brand of comedy, but it was like seven years stale to me by the time The Hangover came around. Same with Ken Jeong, I had seen him on BET Comicview so many times before and I just knew his act. And I also hate Bradley Cooper with the fire of a thousand suns, lmao, even though I hear he’s actually a pretty good dude. But he’ll always be Sack Lodge from Wedding Crashers to me, so I irrationally hate him, a testament to his acting skills, really😂
I’d say I’m bored by most movies, and most genres. I’m kind of strictly into comedy, and it’s gotta be GOOD comedy, like Judd Apatow-level stuff. Getting me to sit down for 90 minutes is a tall task, so I’m not really built for movies, haha, it really has to be worth my while.
My least favorite genres are mostly what the major franchises of this century are in: action, fantasy, sci-fi, romantic comedy…. none of this stuff is really for me. The Fast & The Furious, Marvel Comics, Lord Of The Rings, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Mission: Impossible, all the Jason Bourne or John Wick movies….. I’m EXCEEDINGLY bored by car chases, explosions, choreographed fight scenes, and you can’t wheel out a bunch of elves or something for me either, it all sucks😂
If I had to pick the most boring movie I’ve ever seen though, I have to go with a foreign film, the Aboriginal Australian tale “Ten Canoes.” First off…. lotta subtitles, instantly suspect. And it’s just about some Aboriginal dude living in the bush, and he envies his brother for having all these wives. Stuff happens, and the brother eventually dies, which means the brother inherits all the wives in their culture…. and they basically should’ve titled the movie “Mo’ Bitches, Mo’ Problems”, lmfao. So half the movie is just this dude being annoyed by how demanding all his wives are once he has them, and they should’ve just ended it immediately with them in a group yelling at him as he looks defeated, and then cue the Curb Your Enthusiasm tuba music😂
https://www.youtube.com/embed/Ag1o3koTLWMI had to fly from Connecticut to Detroit via Chicago that day with my girlfriend to meet her ex-stepmom who was having us for a few days, and this lady was so fucking intense with her Ann Arbor itinerary. Like “Lady, I’ve been up since 3 AM traveling, we’re here for like four days, chill the fuck out with tour guide routine.”
But I of course had to be polite and go with the flow, and part of the flow was taking in a movie at some really old but ornate Nickelodeon theater. Cool place to see a movie, but it was strictly arthouse movies. So her boyfriend was like 5’2 and overcompensating like hell for it by being this big “take charge” guy and calling every shot for the group, and HE picked Ten Canoes. I was literally falling asleep in the movie theater, just from fatigue, not even the boredom, and like my head fall and I’d have to snap back awake😂 First time meeting these people, and their intellectuals, so I didn’t want to look like I was trying to look performatively bored as they tried to forcefully culture us, haha
Anyway, we got through it, and to be fair, after 17 years, we still have some inside jokes we reference all the time from that trip our first year together, and Ten Canoes and my man Binbinbirrin or whatever the fuck his name was, crushing honey like you read about…

I don't know how to explain this but this movie was fascinatingly boring!
In short: This was a dull movie... shockingly dull... I've never seen a movie this dull. I had to watch it twice to verify that, yes, it is that dull.
I saw this movie in my long-term stay hotel room in Rockford IL in 2008 or 2009.
As I watched this film, I kept expecting something interesting or visually appealing to happen. The only thing appealing in this movie was the always-appealing Natascha McElhone. I was rather shocked and irked when it ended thinking this movie went no where at the speed of light and I just wasted 2 hours and was totally unfulfilled like I went to a bar, spent $20 on a mixed drink and all it was was club soda.
I was so shocked that, believe it or not, within a few days later, I watched it a second time just to make sure I didn't miss something or misjudged the film. Nope - I was right the first time.
One critic:
" 'Guy X' wins the prize for most boring, pointless and disappointing war movie of the year."
The audience reviews at Rotten Tomatoes were even worse.
https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/guy-x/reviews
Here's a good one because I sort of felt the same way:
"I was completely bored by this movie. I gave it a good try though. When my mind wandered, which was frequent, I would rewind it back to the last point I remembered, only to keep feeling detachment from the film. I didn't care about the characters, nor what happened in the film. I just wanted it to be over. The photography, editing and all that is fine, but that is all that is decent about the movie."10 Reply
Lord of the Rings - I can't even remember the plot.
Harry Potter trilogy - fell asleep to every one.
Twilight - 2nd movie when she was all depressed. I fell asleep and only woke up when Jacob and his friends turned into wolves.
Star Wars - I cannot get into it no matter what.
Black Adam.
Wonder Woman.
Aquaman.
DC makes shitty movies that I always fall asleep to bc it's too slow and boring even though it's an action film.10 Reply

Oh, that's interesting! For me, it was "The Post" with Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep. Despite the star-studded cast and the high praise, I found it slow and lacking the gripping tension I expected from a political thriller. It might just be that journalism dramas aren't my cup of tea. Sometimes, even highly acclaimed films can feel dull to certain viewers. Every movie experiences a bit differently! 🎥🌟

The Shining. The movie has so many iconic scenes and moments. However I cannot sit through and watch the whole thing at once… I’ve tried several times.RIP Shelley Duvall 🥲

I feel like the biggest dummy, but I legit don’t understand the ending. Like he freezes to death in the hedge maze, and know he’s part of the picture from like 50 years before of the hotel staff? The whole “you’ve always been the caretaker here?” thing? Is Jack Nicholson a ghost already but somehow is unaware and has a life and a real family, until they go to this hotel? Or is he like “absorbed” by the hotel upon his death? I get the whole isolation and descent into madness, and that the hotel is haunted, but I just can’t seem to piece together what the deal is with Nicholson. And I feel dumb, lmao.
In fairness, it also just dawned on me about 25 years late that in Office Space, the whole reason the guy goes lackadaisical at work is because he went to that therapeutic hypnotist who keeled over and died from a heart attack mid-session, and he just never was snapped out of the hypnosis. I think I thought the hypnosis just made him chill, but it’s that he remained entranced. And that’s so fucking obvious, and I didn’t get it despite watching the movie like 100 times🤦♂️😂 So dumb, lmfao
1K opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. I went to see The English Patient with my wife when it came out. The only reason I didn't walk out was because she wanted to see it. But I was in a horrible mood afterward for having wasted my time on such trash.
I also despised Ralph Feinnes for years after that. I thought he was the worst actor in the world. Since then, I have seen him play a variety of rolls and revised my opinion of his acting ability, but I'm still not crazy about him. Because of The English Patient, his face offends me. LOL
There was another movie, but I have no idea what it was called. The entire thing consisted of a man and woman walking through narrow old streets in Greece or someplace. Talking, talking, talking, walking, walking, walking.
Half way through the movie, I wanted to hang myself.
Anything that consists of incessant talking is unbearable.
Those two stand out, but there have been quite a few others.10 Replyu

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. I thought I was going to die of boredom... I could probably watch another movie at the same time and not miss a thing in the story. 2 hours, TWO HOURS, of "should she or shouldn't she?". I literally couldn't care anymore as the story droned on to it's inevitable demise, er, conclusion. I gave up after an hour of trying to stick it out. Awful, just awful.

Sharknado takes the cake on this one & I couldn’t even make it 10 minutes into the movie it was that bad I had to turn it off & to top it off they made six movies.

Mamma Mia (2008) I’m sure the original is worse but I remember back in ‘08 that movie was rinsed for all it was worth, and the soundtrack. It was absolutely everywhere, I expected it to be somewhat interesting but I honestly couldn’t finish it. I don’t think I’ve ever been able to watch the whole thing.
10 Reply Ladybird - I know lots of people adore this movie, but it’s not for me. I don’t like coming-of-age movies, and this one is really boring.
Marie Antoinette It has great cinematography but I think the script was very messy. It says NOTHING about Marie Antoinette or the time she was living.
All MCU movies - Its all the same. I don’t think they even have a plot.
Malcolm and Marie - Unnecessarily long, it should have been one “couple fight” scene.

The Hangover was actually hilarious but you to have a man’s sense of humor for that one, women don’t usually get the humor in those movies because it’s geared for men, I could think of many chick flicks that would put me to sleep like Fried Green Tomatoes
10 Reply I found Oppenheimer very long and tedious at the start. It had a great ending although I hated what the US did as an experiment.

The Godfathers. Those films are such classics, and I tried I really tried, and I couldn't make it through more than 5 minutes.
Also, all the Rocky movies except number 4
222 Reply- 1 y
What was it about Rocky IV that you liked that wasn't in the other ones
- 1 y
@RetroReviews The first two and number 6 were so boring. It took forever for something to happened, then he lost. Number 5 had some moments, but it no longer felt like a Rocky movie and the plot was so unoriginal. Number 3 was a little better but not great. Number 4 though kept you on the edge of your seat. So many things happened, and it was the first time we saw Rocky going against a true psychopath and with the whole fan base against him. Plus it was filmed during the Cold War, so a lot of people could relate to the plot.
- 1 y
I like the first four to me they just kept getting better with the fourth being the best one. But the first two are kind of slow but it was building the foundation. Before yeah I mean Ivan Drago the Russian boxer that was pretty cool character he was intriguing
- 1 y
@RetroReviews At least we both agree that number 4 was the best. Creed I was also pretty good. Number 2 felt half-assed and number 3 was an absolute abomination. I don't blame Stallone for not wanting to participate in it. Why would they make Creed retire after just two movies? There's so much more they could have done
- 1 y
I like Creed one and two two mainland because I got to see I Ivan Drago again LOL but I thought it was still decent. Even though there wasn't much of redemption curve because even though he physically lost the fight he still retained the title so it's like wow they didn't knock him down too far... At least in Rocky 3 when he lost a clubber Lang he also lost the title... ugh the Retro movies got it right what can I say lol and I didn't watch the third Creed it just didn't look interesting at all
- 1 y
@RetroReviews True, but Drago doesn't seem like the kind of person who would throw in the towel.
Exactly.
Don't waste your time. Number 3 felt so unrealistic. Ex prisoner becomes and overnight sensation.
- 11 mo
Exactly Drago would not throw in the towel he was pushing his son too hard to be like okay just give up now. Yeah three just looks uninteresting and now since you said that I definitely will not be checking it out LOL. Have you ever seen the boxing movie from 1992 called gladiator with Cuba gooding jr? I never seen it always was interested in checking it out
- 11 mo
@RetroReviews It's even worse than that. Don't watch it.
Nope, never heard of it - 11 mo
If you like boxing movies thought you might like it even though what is from 1992 but I don't mind watching older movies if they're good
- 11 mo
@RetroReviews I don't. I've only seen Rocky and Creed. Why are you saying that like it's a bad thing. Older movies were way better. That's not to say there aren't good modern day movies, but you simply cannot compare
- 11 mo
We agree on that I mostly watch the older movies now cuz most of the modern stuff is like watching a video game it's like nothing but CGI it's like okay I appreciate cool special effects but I don't want the whole movie to be that. Trust me if you saw my movie collection you would know I have a favorites shelf in the living room probably 400 movies I'm going to say 350 of them are on VHS LOL
- 11 mo
@RetroReviews I agree about the over the top special effects. And these days so many movies seem to be about adrenaline pumped action scenes and not so much about story and character development.
I hate modern day trailers too. Back in the day, trailers would give you a small taste, without spoiling anything, but these days the trailer practically shows you the entire movie. And so much stuff gets leaked online, that there's no longer an element of surprised.
I was furious that the last James Bond movie was released in the UK two weeks prior to the U. S., and they immediately published articles and videos on it. So people in the U. S. already knew how it ends before even getting a chance to see it, which completely ruined it. I didn't even bother watching it in theaters because of that. I was furious! - 11 mo
Yeah I still haven't seen the last 007 movie. I heard a lot of negative things about it heard it went woke the running time was almost 3 hours I think and they say he dies so it's like like wow okay
- 11 mo
@RetroReviews Yeah, it's like 2 hours and 45 minutes long. It was like 20 minutes before the opening theme even rolled. It honestly wasn't that bad though. You should watch it. Yeah, he dies.
- 11 mo
So does that mean this will be the final 007 movie ever? I can see it now this leads to 009time for a female agent to play the lead
- 11 mo
@RetroReviews No, not at all. The next phase is currently in development. It would be stupid to kill such a money making franchise
- 11 mo
What are your favorite 007 movies? Mine surprise some people- A View to a Kill and The living daylights
- 11 mo
I think Living Daylights is my favorite too.
I thought View to a Kill was awful - 11 mo
That's cool living daylights is awesome main reason I like video kill is well I like Duran Duran they had the song plus I like Christopher Walken and I thought he was a pretty good villain and plus I like zeppelins so there you go LOL
- 11 mo
@RetroReviews The song is the only part of that movie I'll watch.😂
License to Kill is probably my second favorite. Dalton only made two, but they were really, really good. - 11 mo
Agreed, I thought Dalton was a good 007 in license to kill that car was pretty awesome that he was driving on the ice plus it had the lasers on the side where it cut the bottom of the car beside him, oh can't forget about the ghetto blaster that you was developing for the Americans LOL
- 11 mo
Sorry I meant living daylights concerning the car
-Oppenheimer... Can't believe it won at the Oscars...
-apocalypse now... how is this a cult classic? it's a complete mess..
These two are the definition of dull and boring for me... and I was so hyped before watching them *sigh*..

There is just nothing really new under the sun. MacGyver got remade = disaster. Walker, Texas Ranger got remade into a dark, cerebral blob = disaster. The list goes on. Hawaii Five O remake actually isn't bad, carrying through the story of McGarret's kinfolk, but it is a rare find, and there are still basic frameworks which- by definition - with which the writers are stuck! One of the only things that seem to change is that now, swearing is SOP.
