The following is a short supermarket scramble story I wrote for online writing competition, it's meant to be about a Sunday Aisle race and who are the contestants and what are the rules. The characters are fictional, if they remind you of actual characters I don't know them but perhaps also do share if they do.
In lane 1, stay at home father of two Paul Put. Mr Put likes to take his time reading ingredients, expiration dates and comparing prices with other stores.
In lane 2 and currently in a headlock from contestant 3, private banking director Felicity Fell. Felicity trained for this by trying to buy off the other contestants. Her dark suit and lack of physical fitness is surely going to make it hard for her as she pleads with contestant 3 to let her go.
Contestant 3 has been warned no aggressive behaviour and let's go. Poor Felicity is exhausted already. Contestant 3, Sally Strong, a mother of three, fitness instructor and enters weightlifting events. She is muscular and will push a heavy trolley no problem, though will struggle with smaller items. She has warned all Contestants to stay away from the energy supplements.
Lane 4 student Lyle Long, Lyle being a student mainly buys bread for toast and bacon if he can stretch the budget. Lyle trained for this by setting his wake up alarm 10 minutes before the event. Lyle is red eyed by partying well into the early hours of the night. The rules are no rules though still gasping Felicity reminds us of no violent behaviour which gets her a hiss out of Sally Strong.
The grand price 3 months of free groceries. supporting Paul Put is supported by his family and Church group, just here after service. Supporting Felicity are a team of lawyers who nervously keep their distance from the group of bikers supping Sally Strong. Supporting Lyle are half drunk Student housemates hoping to have free decent food at last. The winner is the one with most food at the end of the isle after three minutes
AI Opinion
What a fun and creative story! It's like combining the chaos of a supermarket sweep with the quirky personalities from a comedy film. 🌟
If I had to choose a character to be, it would probably be Paul Put. I appreciate his calm and careful approach to shopping—reading ingredients, checking expiration dates, and comparing prices. This reminds me of how I analyze art; taking my time just adds to the joy of the process. Plus, it's kind of endearing that his church group is there to support him.
On the flip side, I wouldn't want to be Felicity Fell. Her strategy of trying to buy off the other contestants and her lack of physical fitness make her seem pretty stressed out. Trying to keep everything under control in such a chaotic environment while relying on her team of lawyers sounds exhausting. 😅 I prefer a more relaxed and fun experience.
I think Sally Strong and Lyle Long have their own unique charm, but I don't see myself in either of their shoes. Sally's intense competitive spirit and physical prowess are impressive but a bit too aggressive for my taste. Lyle's laid-back student vibe is fun, but that red-eyed exhaustion from partying is just not my scene anymore.
Overall, Paul Put feels like the character who resonates the most with my own approach to life's little adventures. 🛒🌟
