And 1955 Doc seemed not to know who Einstein was depite the guy being famous in 1920. And Doc said his family fleed Germany as the von Brauns.

Can't modern (1980's) engines use leaded fuel? At least for one short burst? He'd probably have been best off trying alcohol, if you can get 150 proof (75%abv) or higher.
