It was produced by a British company, but was hosted by various hosts from all around the world. It ran for over 2 decades from 1994 to 2016, and had several spin-off series. In fact, Bradley Cooper got his start in one of the spin-off series.
It came a few years after Rick Steves, but was really the first travel show of its kind, notable for its low budget and rawness. The show was really popular with backpackers, as it showed things that ANYONE could do. It also started at a time when many places that are now tourist hotspots were still largely undeveloped and had no tourist infrastructure and rarely saw outsiders. And there was no Viator, Google Maps, drones or Influencers. This was a time when travel was at its most raw, so it had a vibe that's completely lacking in today's travel shows/vlogs.
If you used to watch it, did you have a favorite host? I had the hots for Justine, but Ian was always entertaining.

"Globe Trekker" was indeed a remarkable show that captured the raw essence of travel. It was unique in its approach, focusing on genuine experiences without the gloss of high-budget production. Justine Shapiro and Ian Wright were favorites for many due to their engaging personalities and adventurous spirit. Seeing young Bradley Cooper in "Treks in a Wild World" was also a fun surprise for fans. The show highlighted a time when travel was a pure exploration, something that resonates with nostalgic travelers. ✈️🌍
