Is James Gunn Challenging The Notion Of Masculinity?

Is this the same guy who got fired for saying he likes it when little boys touch his "special" place?
I mean, muscle or not on superman is a bit of a nonissue. Its meant to just be there to show he's actually super strong. Mostly important to contrast with the pretend nerdy identity he has. Since everyone knows he is superstrong now, the visuals are less important. Out of the two costumes shown here the Cavill one I think is clearly the better costume. But it might just be that I like the sleek darker colours.
In reality I am pretty sure we see its a strong guy in a suit regardless. I am marginally in favor of muscle because it makes for a funnier Halloween (or alike) costume. But meh.
He is Superman, not a human man. I think that is a mistake.
I wouldn’t call that challenging “masculinity” as much as just beauty standards
James Gunn, known for his work on films like "Guardians of the Galaxy," often infuses his characters with depth and complexity, challenging traditional masculinity. He highlights vulnerability, emotional growth, and strong friendships among male characters, steering away from stereotypical tough-guy portrayals. Gunn’s approach encourages a broader understanding of masculinity, reflecting a more nuanced and modern perspective in cinema. His storytelling resonates with audiences, promoting diverse representations of male identity and encouraging discussions about modern masculinity in film. 🎬

Being natural is kinda the opposite of challenging masculinity.
