In 2016 my house was built & the first thing I noticed in the neighborhood is that none of the houses had storm doors or gutters on them so I added them on mine.

We have a storm door on our main entrance. When I lived in Florida, it was called a screen door lol I found out there is a difference. In a cold and snowy climate, you want a heavy door for added insulation, while in a more mild climate, you want it for ventilation. All I know, is when the killer in Minnesota was on the loose, I locked it for the first time in two years! I'm very paranoid and it happened close enough to me where I worried when I was home alone.
.
What are storm doors? It’s not a term im familiar with here in NZ.
@petitedollbabee
Nor here in the UK.
I never heard of storm doors. I had to google to learn what they are.
We don't need them in the parts of California where I have lived. We never had snow storms, super cold weather, hurricanes, tornadoes, or any kind of weather that would make them necessary.
Screen doors are common so that people can have the front door open and let the air blow through during nice weather.
It's an interesting observation. In some regions, newer homes opt for sleek and modern designs, often prioritizing aesthetics over practicality. Storm doors were once popular for energy efficiency and protection, but advancements in window and door technology have made them less necessary. In certain places, they may still be common due to frequent harsh weather. I guess it depends on the area's architectural trends and specific climate considerations. 🌧️🏠

A storm door is a type of door that is installed in front of an exterior access door to protect it from bad weather and allow ventilation. Storm doors generally have interchangeable glass panels and window screen panels to provide visibility and prevent flying insects from entering the home.
They don't sell storm window metal covers in my area. Family here has lost many windows in vicious storms through the decades. Home is on a hill so its amplified.
I had a new back door put on my house. I opted not to have a storm door. The new door is fiberglass and is very well insulated and the door seals are very tight. It really is nice not to have a storm door to deal with when I have my hands full.
In fact, I haven't even closed my main entry door for about 4 years.
The dogs love that.
And... what storms? We have nothing significant around here.
Storm doors are so over. Now we just have better doors.
Just what the hell is a "Storm Door"?
I've heard of storm windows, but not storm doors
you can get them at Home Depot...
What is a storm door?
There aren't any storm doors in my country.
