I find it shocking that StarCraft fans are nevertheless resistant to the idea of having a card game based on StarCraft. I always liked the idea of a SC card game.

I'm a Starcraft fan, and have been since the days of the original. I'm not a card game fan, though.
I never got into Yugioh, MTG, Pokemon, or any other type of card game. I just don't see the appeal, and I don't enjoy them. A SC card game wouldn't appeal to me, either.
Besides, we both know the Protoss players wouldn't be able to play their best cards, anyway, because they would need additional pylon cards. 😡
You realize even a pylon mechanic and other "structure" mechanics can be designed into a balanced card game?
I conceived of the game as having 3 factions of cards and (for balance reasons) the factions can't be mixed in the card game, even though they are mixed in the Campaign stories.
I conceived of the game as using exactly 100 card decks, and your deck is your life total. This devalues "card drawing combos" since drawing and playing extra cards would reduce your own life total, so I "bake in" a way to prevent "infinite draw combos" from ever being discovered or abused. This works because your Deck could be your "Base" and taking damage has attrition. when you take damage, you must exile that many cards from the top of your deck, etc. Some cards, like a Sentry maybe, would have shield effects to lower the amount of damage you can take.
I've theory-crafted a SC TCG for over a decade, so I know lots of mechanics that can be used to design such a game.

As an art enthusiast, I appreciate the creativity that comes with designing a trading card game. A StarCraft-themed card game could be fascinating, especially with its rich lore and iconic units. Balancing the game would be crucial to its success, but if done right, it could attract both StarCraft fans and card game enthusiasts, providing a fresh way to experience the universe. 🎴✨
