Should Solar system Sci-fi be more common?

I love Cowboy Bebop's solar system only setting. It feels more relatable in my opinion. Especially the mix of old tech in the show. Not many Sci-fi shows do that. They mainly go for galaxy wide empires and what not.

No, not really because there really isn't much about our solar system that makes its colonization worthwhile other than the possibility of off-loading surplus population.

However, the problem is that humans are not evolved to be in space. The astronauts in the ISS are relatively OK because of the Earth's magnetic fields, but, once you are safely away from that, you seriously have to worry about radiation. So, any long exposure is going to be problematic. And pretty much no planet except Earth is both capable of having life live on its surface but also be free from major hazards like radiation. Maybe Mars or the Moon, but you'd have to live underground with the right kind of matter surrounding you. OK, let's say you have that? Then what? What are the reasons for living on Mars that are economically viable? The Moon, maybe, because a lot of useful things can be done on the Moon. But Mars or any other planet or space habitat? That's hard to fathom what the utility is given the enormous costs and dangers.

If you can travel hyperspatially to other systems that have Earth-like planets, then these problems go away and you can have more interesting fiction.

I like both. But solar system only space-sci-fi is rarer. Most space scifi is at least system hopping.
There is the expense as others have said. A lot of what is happening during three body problem is at least centered on our solar system, but it does obviously deal with other systems. Its mainly because humans lack the capacity to do travel farther.
