People watch movies for the Villains and the main Villain in this move is a joke. I don't think another director would made something different since scripts for all recent SW movies are bad.

They should have refrained from doing the whole damn trilogy. The prequels were mediocre (or bad?) enough.

Fans mainly split over its tone and choices about Luke, Snoke, and Rey’s parents. Abrams probably would’ve played safer, leaned harder into nostalgia, and kept a clearer mystery-box arc, so backlash might’ve been softer.

But others loved Rian Johnson’s bold, subversive approach. The divide was about expectations more than just the director 🎬
