Same here, my “instrument” is mostly Spotify too 😂 But honestly, musical talent isn’t just about singing or playing. Having good taste, making great playlists, feeling songs deeply, dancing, or even knowing which track fits a mood is a vibe.
I can’t sing well either, but I scream my lungs out at concerts and that totally counts in my book 🎧🎤10 Reply

1.2K opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. Yeah. I started guitar when I was 11, almost 12.
By 11th grade, I was pretty good and was lead guitarist and vocalist in garage bands playing rock music. I did that to my early 30s until band members and I got busy with out lives.
In my early 50s, with my wife's encouragement, I started up again at a nondenominational church we were attending. I played a wider variety of songs, not just rock, and often created arrangements that included various musicians. Aside from a drummer and my usual bass player, I sometimes had a pianist, extra percussion, additional guitars, harmony and background vocalists.
At the same time, we had friends who held karaoke parties at their house 4 or 5 times a year. They had hundreds of songs but they were mainly '60s and '70s pop.
I never sung karaoke before but when I saw others having fun and heard them sing, I started picking out some songs.
When I goofed around on some things by artists like Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bobby Darin, Elvis, etc. and hammed it up, the people thought I was great. I started learning how to use my voice properly and not just sing.
When I was about 58, I formed my own band. I had a really good bass player, found an amazing drummer and a decent keyboard player. Those guys liked my voice a lot, too. We rented a studio to rehearse once a week.
I knew a couple who were really into all things Irish and started putting large Irish ceilidhs every year around St. Patrick's day. They hired musicians, bands and Irish dancers. They would attract 200 or 300 attendees. For 15 years, they invited me to play a 20 minute set of Irish rebel and pub songs. I played acoustic guitar and sang lead, and would get other musicians - accordion, mandolin, penny whistle, bass, extra acoustic guitar, and backup singers.
I would have people dancing and singing along to my songs.
My association with the church, the karaoke parties, my band and the ceilidhs all ended in 2020 with the covid hysteria.
Anyway, that's my musical talent: acoustic and electric guitar, vocals, some percussion and arranging.20 Reply- 2.7K opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic.
1 moI once got rejected forever by a married couple I was friends with after singing at their karaoke party because they did not like the way I sung. Not a big deal, since we did not seem to have matching social values and would probably never have been close friends anyway.
I think it is just the way I sung, not my voice. Everybody tells me I should be a talk show host, so it is either my voice or my ability to form sentences. I even had a boss tell me that without firing me or reducing the hours I worked. He told me I would make a good talk show host.
10 Reply 5K opinions shared on Entertainment & Arts topic. I started playing piano at the age of 8 and am classically trained. I also started playing guitar a while back, but I am still learning my chops with that. My husband plays bass, guitars and drums. Most of our friends are also musicians.

1 moYes, quite a bit! I've been a drummer my whole life, I can sing, whistle, play a little bass and keys, write songs, and comedy records, do voice acting in movies and cartoons, do various voices and accents, solve Rubik's Cube in about 20 seconds, tell jokes, do magic, a little ventriloquism, write books, edit music, I used to be a REALLY good dancer and I can toot a tune or two, too.
10 Reply I've been told I sound a bit like Ian Gillan, which is ironic because I once played Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar (Gillan was Jesus in the original). I personally think I sound more like Meat Loaf instead lol. Apart from that I've been a gigging musician and a guitar and piano teacher on the side for 20 years or so. But I wouldn't call myself more or less talented than anybody else, I've just put in the time and effort, anybody can sing and play an instrument if they want to.
10 ReplyI play guitar and piano. I don't really feel talented at guitar though. But I'll keep practicing until my fingers bleed, as if hurting myself is magically gonna turn me into a pro, pfffft.

If you're just practicing scales or riffs or something repetitive, you can in fact just play with an unplugged electric while you're watching TV for example. You don't need your full focus for everything, save that for playing actual songs. A lot of teachers focus too much on drills I think, expression, and how you play a note, means more than complexity, and don't let anybody tell you how you're supposed to play something if it feels different to you (not even me lol). Not that you asked me, actually. Got carried away there.

1 moI can play a little piano and I’m a good drummer, in case that wasn’t implied by my username lol... and a little bit of music production skills too, but it’s all fallen to the wayside in the last couple of years.

Man that's funny, did you make all this? 😂
You can write a song but you need to work on your vocals and you need a real microphone...
I don't create beats nor do i have a studio, but you can use voloko as a first step or download a beat from youtube etc... - 1 mo
Yeah🤣
I know🤣 That's why I want someone with musical talent to record them.
I was trying to find an app that can digitially alter my voice. I don't care. You can record a demo😂 - 1 mo
To sing well, you need to practice your voice, using the auto tuner is lame, many artists these days uses full auto tuners and it sucks, in the studio they can fix your voice picth a little, at least it looks more natural then just depending on an auto tune...
These days you can make a full song using A. I, you will just write your lyrics, choose what kind of music do you want and also if you want your song to be metal or rap or hip hop... etc, the app does it all for you instead of a producer and a whole band 🤣🤣 - 1 mo
I have no serious desire to become a musician though😂
I know. I've seen those, and I tried some, but it changed the melody
