When you meet a person who's genuinely funny, your world opens up to carefree laughter and amusement. Fun just keeps on flowing naturally and before you know it your day is brightened. Also, you might feel your abdominal muscles for days after...a huge bonus for sure!

We aren't talking about comedians here...

Funny people are more outgoing

Not saying all of them are, but when they let loose in a group setting they mostly are the life of any party. And for good reason.

Humor increases productivity and group effectiveness.

It provides an atmosphere that is easier to work in. If small mistakes are lightly poked at instead of scolded for, then people will be less afraid of making them and will be more likely to think outside the box.

Facilitates trust

You are much more likely to trust someone who knows how to make you laugh than someone who you feel has an awkward sense of humor. Humor, in a way, reveals the authentic person within.

Relieves stress

Stress does an incredible amount of damage on our psyche - humor makes us feel good and gets rid of our stress.

Boosts creativity

Being funny requires a lot of creativity in itself. Be funny regularly and that creativity is likely to transfer into other areas of your life.

The funny gal/guy is always invited

Need I say more? When you're throwing any sort of bash a funny person you know or even just slightly know will always be invited!

Comedy allows for bonding

Humor is a great tool for breaking the ice. When you meet someone who knows how to make you laugh, you immediately begin to feel as if that person understands you. You begin to feel that you share a similar sense of humor and therefore most likely have other things in common as well.

Funny people are more likeable

Laughter and comedy play larger roles in our lives than most people realize or would like to admit. Funny people are easier to like because they make us happy by making us laugh.

Funny people are more detail-oriented

The funniest of jokes are those that are focused on a minor detail or phrase that a person says rather than focused on something vastly general. Funny comments in the workplace are usually funny one-liners.

Its funny or sad perhaps. I always been pretty depressed, but I always been able to cheer anyone up, the atmosphere despite me being depressed always become brighter I been told when I enter a room. I would say or seem like I'm pretty charismatic. If I choose to be anyway. Although I dont have friends, but is my own choice really. Im pretty anti social in general and can get pretty tired of people, introvert I guess you could say. While I kinda think much of this is true, the irony is it can make me sad sometimes by nature. That you always do these things to make life easier for everyone else, but it ends up making ur own just harder. At least in my case anyway. But im perhaps just an odd combination.

Agree fully with this take. The only thing that funny people are at a disadvantage with, is attraction. I'm a really funny guy when I want to be and yes am always invited to everything and it helps in business too. But it's friendshipzone. I have heaps of friends and aquintances but my love life is as dry as one my Monday jokes.

In my experience only some of this is true. I've know people who are funny and charismatic, but don't increase productivity. I've also known people who seem to use their humor and charisma to hide flaws in their make up (e. g. not being trustworthy and not paying attention to details)

I love this! Not to sound stuck up, but this totally applies to me and my man too LOL! XD I love making people laugh and smile and making others feel comfortable and it makes others love being around me :) It genuinely makes me happy and I love being around people!

Im funny, people have told me that and i can make people laugh quite easily, however:
-Im not outgoing (im shy). Im not the life of the party at all
-Im almost never invited
-I dont have much friends

You're not charismatic then. Being outgoing doesn't mean liking parties etc. You can also just be outgoing without going to parties. If you get rid of your shyness you could get a long way.

De beste vertaling voor outgoing is meer spontaan zijn, dus een soort van het tegenovergestelde van verlegenheid. Charismatisch zijn is een goede spreker zijn. Het betekend niet hetzelfde als spontaniteit.
Het is mogelijk om van je verlegenheid af te komen of tot zover in te dimmen dat je er niet elke dag meer last van heb. Komt van een persoon die in het verleden ook verlegen was.
Bij mij heeft het erg gewerkt om als je een idee heb in je hoofd (zoals een persoon die er aardig uitziet aan te spreken), maar het niet durft het te doen vanwege je verlegenheid, te bedenken hoe jij zou reageren als iemand dat bij jou zou doen. Als de gevolgen niet zo dramatisch zijn als je dacht dan moet je het gewoon doen. Ook heeft kickboksen goed gewerkt bij mij voor mijn zelfvertrouwen. Als je meer tips wil kun je me eventueel een privébericht sturen.

@spuitkaas verlegenheid is dan meer van te voren bedenken what je gaat zeggen, terwijl outgoing dan meer op het gevoel/direct praten is? Ik dacht altijd dat outgoing meer was van dat je veel met mensen omging enzo, maar spontaan zijn heeft daar ook wel veel mee te maken denk ik.

Charismatic is dan meer hoe je praat zegmaar (stemtoon, stem, body language etc)?

Ik zou dan denken: "waarom komt hij/zij met mij praten? Maar ook wel fijn dat zij/hij met me wilt praten", zouden de meeste mensen zo denken?

Zeker. Meeste mensen denken zo. We hebben soms de neiging om te denken dat we allemaal compleet anders denken en dat we allemaal zo speciaal zijn, maar in werkelijkheid is er niet zoveel verschil tussen de een en de ander. Vaak hoe jij op een reactie van een ander zou reageren, zo zou de ander ook reageren. We zijn allemaal niet zo verschillend van elkaar.

They can be gained? Charisma can be gained and humour too :p if you work on it enough you can gain a lot of things, but ofc talent makes it easier
