Why do animals have to die?

At most this is probably going to be the saddest thing I ever post. One of the kids I babysit asked me why her dog had to die. At this question I was absolutely heart broken because I think everyone at some point has had an animal pass away that meant the world to them. However I needed to answer her question so this is what I said. "A person's main goal in life is to find a propose. When a person finds that propose what they have to do then is work and strive at that. They need to find something that makes them happy and all and all try to live out the best life that they can. But here's the thing. A dog or any other animal already knows how to do that. When you came home your dog always rushed up to see you. Do you know why? Because they loved you, they saw the person who raised them and took care of them when they needed help so they were happy to see you. They always love to go on walks and workout because that's something that made them happy. They let people into their lives, and aren't afraid of doing so. They warn us when they are mad and don't just snap or bite us. And they let people know when they are happy. And even if they person has a bad day, they do everything they can to make us feel better. This is why dog and animals don't live as long as we do. Because they have already found what life is about.

I don't know the answer. I wish they didn't. I had to put 2 down myself. It killed me. This third one I have, I may go with her.

My advice to you is tell them,

"ALL DOGS GO TO HEAVEN"

Tell them to not let anyone tell them any different. I don't believe any different.

Yes I know. I had a black lab and she was my best friend as a kid. She sadly died and I was the one who found her... this just gave me some comfort

Animals die younger because they are no longer sexually reproductive. That is to say they no longer have an evolutionary reason to live. By dying they free up resources for their offspring.

Humans live longer because we take longer to raise kids plus grandparents often play a role in raising kids.

Great answer and a very nice clip. Although, if "finding out what life is about" is the criteria for "allowing" us to die, I guess I missed class that day, thankfully.

We all need to be cared for by someone, and we all need someone to care for. Hence, continuity; hence, pets.

FWIW- We lost our dog a year ago, and got a new puppy 3 months ago.

It's been almost 10 months that saying goodbye was the hardest thing. After 11 years being with me. But Trooper was loved and cuddled knowing he chosed his forever home to depart peacefully. Miss him a lot 🥹

Some pets may live 2 years, some may live over 100 years. However, they all die. There are zero exceptions.

Because the world is cruel and cold, and our only defense against it is to find love, peace, and comfort where we can. Sometimes you're left to find those in memories of loved ones.
