Why would my parents disown me if I got pregnant at 18?

Today I told my mom that me and my boyfriend are trying to conceive. My mother said, if I got pregnant now, she and my entire family would disown me. Why would they disown me? It's really not a big deal if I have a baby right now. I think that I am ready to be a mother because I am almost in my 20's and I want to be pregnant already as soon as possible. My aunt was not married and she was young when she had her first baby. How can I convince her that it's not a big deal to be pregnant at my age?

You're 18. You have not graduated college, so if you were to have a baby now, the chances of you recieving a degree are very low. You need a college degree to have most jobs, especially well-paying ones. You will need money to support the child, as well... You need to be financially stable before you have a baby.
You do not have to be married to have a child, even though it is preferred. Most teen fathers will abandon the mother and child because he is a teen, a young adult, and wants to live. Not everyone is married, but they are still together with kids, but they are probably in their 30's and/or higher.
Being in your late teens/early 20's, you have not yet experienced your life. You just got through high school; you have not lived! You have not experienced love, heartbreak, parties, college, and everything. A baby would take away any chance at that.
There is so much more to say, too. Your mother knows what is best for you. You are too young to have a baby. You don't know if you are in love, yet. You have not experienced life yet. You need to be able to live. ..and if you want a baby, you need to have a healthy, financially stable home for it to grow up in. It is actually healthier for you to have a baby in your later 20's or even in your 30's.
All in all, you're not ready. There is so much left to do in life before you bring a child into the world. You can't experience life the same with a baby in your arms. Go out, live a little! Wait until you truly are ready to have a baby. Nobody should have a baby when they're still one themselves.

I don't understand why people rush so much, 18 year olds are still immature and in "High School Mode" They think it's a trend to have a baby instead of thinking about getting a job or college.

Are you financially stable? Have your own place? Mentally aware that if you have a baby, you actually have to take care of it, you can't dump it on your parents, you can't just go hang out with friends or go party.

If you said no to any of those, you should NOT have a baby.

Too many children are born to selfish parents.

I think that, if your parents aren't Christian or super religious, they'd be unhappy, but wouldn't go so far as to disown you. You are 18 anyways, so you will be moving out soon and it won't matter much anyways.

It's a huge deal to get pregnant at any age actually. I'm 19, almost 20, and I think getting pregnant now would be one of the scariest, most devastating things that could happen to me at this point in my life. I'm no where NEAR able to support myself. Supporting a child too would be laughable.

Because, for one, you're not married, and given how relationships are for teenagers, the odds are that in three years from now, he'll be long gone.
