Cousin doesn't hug me but does with others?

So I got confused by this. I have a cousin who is a year older than me and usually we are close in terms of having a bro/sis type of relationship.

I hadn't seen her in a long time at a family gathering. And she was about to leave and gave everyone else a hug (even my guy cousins who are all only 2-3 years younger than me).

But when she got to me she said "oh... your too old for a hug I'm gonna hi five you instead"... and it was one shitty high five LOL then again I was eating dinner at the time.

So why did she not hug me? I'm kind of at fault to blame for not refusing her hi five and asking for a hug. But I was caught off guard since I always hug all my girl cousins.

How can I be too old for a hug?

I have no trouble hugging any of my male relatives, close or distant, no matter what their age. Including a male cousin of mine who is 33 (I mention this because you're probably about a similar age to him).

She is probably attracted to you but knows it would be wrong to act on it since you're cousins. She is trying to do the right thing.

Ya that's the thing, I don't have a problem hugging any family members even if their men. I mean they're my family so I care about them and a hug is a way to show that to them.

I guess I was caught off guard, because I kinda felt left out or like there must be something wrong with me. I mean everyone else gets a hug and she sees me in front of my other cousins and doesn't give me one and a lame high five instead... So it kinda made me thing why? I mean she couldn't hate me since she was smiling and laughing while she said everything.

But maybe you're right, I mean that could be how she feels from a woman's point of view.

If it really bothers you, next time you could try giving her a side hug.

If she was smiling and laughing while talking with you, then:
A) she could be like that with everyone which is good because you're normal to her.
OR
B) she was subconsciously, subtly flirting with you because she is attracted to you.

Well It's kinda hard to get a hug when someone sticks out their hand LOL. Also, I normally always give side hugs too. So I wouldn've given her a side hug too.

From what I remember she seemed serious with everyone else. Kinda like Hey John it was nice seeing you take care. In like a normal voice with less expressions.

Then she got to me and as soon as we made eye contact I was about to get up from my dinner and hug her. She just smiled and kinda laughed at the fact that she said oh you're too old now you get a high five instead. Then went back to being more serious with the next person.

I as a guy felt more like it was a way to say I don't like you that much, or that were not that close anymore so I won't hug you. But she seemed pretty talkative when we first met till she let me be to study for my exam.

It still sounds like she probably likes you.

One thing, though: did she hug many of the relatives there? For example, if she only hugged women and children, and didn't hug ANY men, then maybe it's not a personal attraction.

no no.. she hugged all my other guy cousins next to me. And these guys are only 2-3 years younger than me. I was the only one out of all the men she high fived. That's why I felt odd and left out or like some how I was different than everyone else... but I thought of it in a bad or negative way.

Maybe she likes you or thought since you are a man it would be awkward. I really think its cause she is attracted to you

hmm could be, but I know she hugs my uncles and what not. Are they not men too?

And my other cousins are not much younger than I am.. they look more manly than me LOL. I have more a cute look than a manly look.

I can say that me and her haven't talked or seen each other in a LONG time. But, neither of us holds any hate or anything like that. We always seems to get along perfectly well actually especially with our chats and discussions when we've ever had them.

We didn't talk much this time since I had exams going on, so I avoided everyone at the gathering for the most part.

I guess I felt confused or in some ways left out that she didn't hug me. She kinda laughed and smiled and said you're too old for hugs now, so you get a high five... which wasn't even a high five LOL it was so soft like a touch and like oh okay good enough... LOL
