Can I ask him to go on a hike/run with me?

So next to the college I go to are some popular hills that are used to train for cross country by the high schools and colleges nearby. we share parking lots with it, that's how close it is. There's this guy I've been crushing on for as long as I can remember. We can never seem to have a conversation despite him always approaching me and initiating a convo. I'm just so damn shy around him. I forget how to talk. Which is a problem because I've know him half my life. I don't really have any friends, and I don't know anyone that would want to go for a run/hike. I'm thinking about asking him when I bump into him at school but I don't want to make it seem like I'm interested.. Like I just want to be good friends with him. I hope it doesn't come off that way, I mean he's invited me before to his church group, he said whenever I wanted to go to let him know (which I never asked about after because I hate church) and he's tried helping me in school. One time he did me a big favor and I told him I owed him and I was like "I'll buy you food, everyone loves food" but he said as much as he wanted my offer he also wanted me to succeed and he was just doing it to help me. So yeah, should I go through with this

He seems to like you. I would go after it. I don’t run on a regular basis but for a period of time I ran with a girl I liked just to be near her. If he doesn’t run then this is a perfect opportunity to get a sense of if he likes you. Also by asking him to run you can form a special sort of bond. It will be your special thing together. Even if you stay just friends it will just be your thing. You can compete with him (if he is competitive) get to the top of the hill and just enjoy the view. I would totally go for it. Also, the more time you spend with a person the less nervous you will be around them later. When running simply ask questions and let him do all the talking (plus he will get tired faster and you can beat him to the top of the hill). This way you won’t have to talk as much. Go for it. See if he is up for it. If he says yes it will be fun and you will get a sense of where you stand in your relationship. If he says no, then again you will know more information about your relationship. Ask him. Hopefully he is up for it and you can have a good time.

That's what this one girl would say, that he likes me. But even if he did I think it would be weird because our parents are so close.. I don't know. But yeah I definitely want to ask him and not make it awkward. He's mentioned before that I'm awkward with him 😌

Then he is probably onto the fact that you like him. I would still ask him. It could simply be as friends. I am always up for new things so maybe he is too. Also I get your parents being super close. Just let things fall into place. Continue being friendly with him, hang out occasionally etc. This should at a minimum keep a good friendship status between you. Also at worst he will say no and you will continue being friends. Just pop the running question casually.

Yeah that's what I thought to so one day I casually complained to him about how socially awkward I am with people and that's when he mentioned it haha, I don't know how I would do it casually.. He always pops up out of nowhere.

Our families are really close and if it didn't work out which I feel it won't because he's super focused on school right now, it would be awkward at gatherings. I also don't want to distract him from school. It may sound stupid but my last bf broke up with me because I was a distraction

If he is not ready for a girlfriend then you should avoid being alone together with him. He knows you. He will find you when he is ready.

True, I guess I shouldn't rush the process. But would it be wrong to still ask him or would it come off as a date? Like I said I just want to be less awkward with him because he told his mom a few times I'm very cold and blunt with him

I would ask any guy friend.. But him and I rarely talk, or maybe I'm just over thinking it because I like him. Gosh I don't know anymore haha

I like this guy friend that I asked as well, and we didn't really talk a lot before. but it wasn't weird at all, it gave us time to catch up and have some fun

I see nothing wrong with that, but make sure you let him know your intentions so he doesn't feel lead on.
