What does it mean that my family requests still say pending on my Facebook profile?

I got my mom as my mother on Facebook, a sister, a brother, but for some reason it still says pending for a couple of my brothers. What does that mean? Have they not touched it? Did they do something and I don't know?

It means they're embarrassed by you and don't want people to know you're related :P Who knows? Maybe they're just not big about Facebook or having family on Facebook. I wouldn't worry

If they didn't accept it, how can it still say pending with their name, profile pic and the name of the relationship? Wouldn't I get a notification, find it disappear off my profile?

Pending means waiting for approval
