Boyfriend/girlfriend duties?

I was just wandering what you all think are the duties of a boyfriend/girlfriend? What- other than the physical stuff determines the difference between friends and boyfriend/girlfriend relationships?

The physical stuff actually might be it. I have this friend (a guy) who I have literally been friends with since daycare, and we are so comfortable around each other. Neither of us is gay, but we are (for lack of a better word) bro's. We can talk about anything, we're close friends and we understand each other on a level only possible by being friends for so long. We don't talk about it much, but we care about each other.

The only thing we're short for a BF/BF relationship is sex and dates.
