Is it weird that a dad still cuddles with his 15 year old daughter?

So I've been seeing my boyfriend for a year now and he's much older than me. He had his daughter when he was 15 himself and the mother wanted nothing to do with her or him, So it's just been him and her for a long time until I came along. Said he didn't want to date because he wanted to give his baby all of his time.

I think they've gotten too close because every time I visited and now that I'm living with them, they're always very close to each other. The daughter likes me but she doesn't really see me as her dads girlfriend. Anyway, she is always sitting in his lap and is always cuddling with him in our bed. It's really creeping me out but I don't want to bring it up. She's a very pretty young girl and should be out with her friends. But she's always with her dad by choice. He never asks her to do all this stuff but he doesn't tell her no either. Do you think something very wrong is going on between them? Or am I just looking at this wrong?

My stepdaughter insists on cuddling from time to time. Can be her and me, her and mom, her mon and me (like last night) I was in the living room reading, girlfriend came in while taking off her shirt and her daughter came out of her room in bra and panties... So we gave ourselves a family hug which got me rockhard. Then girlfriend and her daughter went to sit at the piano. They played together while having just a bra and panties... So I pretended to go look for something, sat down and took pictures!

They should be close. Not the distant type of relationships we have now where hugs are rare and kids avoid time with family.

Not to worry she'll meet a boy she likes and dad will fade to the background.

She's had a boyfriend in the past but never really spent time with him. She's ALWAYS with her dad. Maybe I'm just selfish but I think it's time for her to break away from him.

As he's been her primary carer, obviously she's still young and extremely emotionally dependent on him. He's been there all her life, just the two of them, and of course they're very close. They're probably even closer now that he has a girlfriend because even teenagers get separation anxiety when suddenly their father's time isn't just for them anymore. If you're concerned, bring it up to him but I think that you should be prepared to be hurting and offending him if you do so.

That's why I don't want to bring it up. They seem right on that line to me. The only thing they don't so is shower together. Like I said, I've just never seen two people so close that aren't in that way.

I think that we live in a society that is unused to men showing affection for their children. I honestly don't think that anything untoward is going on. I think it's lovely that they're able to have such a close relationship. She's at the age where children typically rebel and try to pull away from their family. It's nice to see that hasn't happened with them.

He's probably all that she has. So she's attached to him. The cuddling thing is kind of weird but I don't think there's anything sexual going on. I just think that she's really dependent on him. Which can become a problem.

It is wrong, but not for the reason you think it is.

There is nothing creepy or wrong about a father and his daughter cuddling. But if it is as constant as you say it is, she shouldn't be as dependent on her father as she is.

I think she is too dependent on her dad, there is nothing wrong with cuddling with dad, but if it is all the time it's not good. Just remember this. The first man a girl loves is her dad, because he is the first person to show what a man truly is. He sounds like a good dad, but she is entirely too dependent.

You don't really know what's going on there - could be nothing/normal, could be something weird. Stay out of it. Date him if you wish, or move on. Don't fret about it.
There are plenty of guys that don't already have a kid - perhaps there's another option.

by the way, dads and daughters can be very close - I am with my two but not really like you describe. We'll sit and hold hands but it's more rare than common, and especially if we haven't visited for awhile.

If I were you I wouldn't express my displeasure directly. Do you not get to spend time with your boyfriend? Because if you don't you could request some alone time, that's not too much to ask.

Cuddling that much is weird but my daughter hangs all over me at random times, she might be competing for his affection when you're around. You're also being jealous though so I wouldn't say anything, it'll only come across as such and I'd quickly leave a woman for trying to make me choose between her or my daughter.

I highly doubt it's anything gross like it seems like you're trying hard to convince everyone about, I'd back off and stop being so selfish.

I can see how you would think it was gross but we were in love with each other at the time, I know it was wrong. It just strikes me as the next step in your boyfriend and his daughter's relationship especially if you were no around. there's a reason girls and boys are given separate rooms when the get older and there is meant to be barriers both physical and emotional between fathers and daughters, mothers and sons around puberty. She seems to have taken the place of a wife for him and for her he is almost like a first boyfriend at least emotionally. Might lead to nothing if they dont sleep in the same bed and she finds a boyfriend. There are boundaries that are there for a reason and they are on the line from what you describe.
