Do you disrespect your parent (s)?

Respect for people in general seem to be going out the window, especially when it comes to teachers, police officers, and nurses. But what about where it all begins? What about with your parents?

Some parents don't deserve respect because of their own actions. But many parents do and yet they don't get it. So my question to you is this: Do you disrespect your parent (s)? This could be anything from back talking and not listening to flat out calling the names or, God forbid, hitting them.


Or, if you are a parent currently, do your children disrespect you and/or your partner?

I do disrespect my parents.

My father deserve to be disrespected. Maybe once upon a time he was a good guy but not anymore until he finally died four years ago and i'm not sad for it. An addict. An abuser. He never did hurt me physically but always destroyed me psychologically as a child. It never been the same for my mother tho. I fell behind my life's career and potential because of the issues he caused.

I respect my mother all the way. She raised me. She made all the sacrifices she could to make me a person i am today. Whatever i have and will have first is because of her. She is a true angel. But to honest. She never done anything psychologically for me. I don't blame her. She always been busy taking care of me so we don't hold a close relation because i grew up living alone in the house and mostly on my own. But she was watching after me from the far. She was always absent but the absence was for taking care of us. I know that. And i am thankful.

So i do respect my mother. But if i accidentally made mistakes or said things in heat of the moment that would be disrespecting and hurtful? yes. Nobody's prefect and i don't hold a pride out of my mistakes. I know sometimes i reacted unfairly and not always succeed expressing how i really feel in the right moment due complications between us. So there has been moments that i've made this mistakes intentionally that always regretted.

For the record, not all the teachers, nurses and officers deserve the respect. But without the odds, i respect all of them. Teachers like you are sacrificing their lives dealing with foolishness of the children, teenagers and youth. We learn our first basic and primary lessons by our teachers. Our life observation of writing, reading and understanding starts with them. Nurses are one of the most hard workers. Dealing with patience, doing programs and schedules, dealing with medical crew, their career and personal life all at once. Nurse is another word to describe a person strong enough to tolerate everything and soft enough to understand everyone. Our officers put their lives on the line everyday to protect our cities and keep the trial clean. They do many impossibles in order to keep us safe.
All of them deserve respect.

I got in trouble a lot when I was younger but I never talked back when I was disciplined. My dad had no issues smacking me upside the head when I thought I could talk back. I honestly thank him for that today.

Being 23 years old now, I'm a grown ass man. My parents can be my friends at this point. Still my parents but none the less, I can talk to them as a friend as well. We have a mutual respect towards each other.

They don't discipline me anymore for the sole fact that there is no need to. If they did, that would be very strange at my age lol.

Respect is a two dimensional thing. Have I ever disrespected my parents? YES but I haven't for years but I don't think I respect them either it's more like 'I don't have the energy to get in trouble or have someone shouting at me'

I don't think I'll ever be friendly or anything because of some stuff that I know I can't get over and some serious difference in values... not morals, values.

So if you look at my relationships with my parents from the outside, you'll think I love them and from inside you wouldn't even know they're related to me.

No, my parents raised me to respect them no matter what. I have always been a very behaved child... no idea how they did it, but I do respect them very much. I've disrespected them once, when I had my first boyfriend, but I never did it after that. I feel very bad because I was being a typical, blind teenager and they just wanted the best for me. They've kept me out of a lot of trouble...

Tip to parents with kids who want successful and easier teen years: discipline them at an early age, remember you are more stubborn than them. Kids need to not get their will 😂

I never did growing up, it wasn't the done thing. As of a couple of years ago I started to talk back to my parents but it's typically sarcastic banter between us that I invariably take too far. lol I always listen to what my dad says but may not always heed what he says... his words not mine. Lol Other than that, I couldn't bring myself to disrespect them or anyone as it's not in my nature generally.

I use to, mostly when I was 15-16 because we moved and I was with my teen attitude. I mean, I still live with them for the time being. And we have our differences but now I am more mature on how to deal with it without walking out of the house and shouting, ignoring them.

To be honest I did disrespect my parents, I was beaten, I replied them ugly words and wish them bad stuff in my head and didnțt listen to what they told me I regret that and I feel guilty but only on that but on more, I feel so low and depresed that even now I did not change that or help them..
