So, we go to high school together, and we're friends. I like him, but I can't tell what he actually thinks of me. At the beginning of the school year, he called me sexy and stuff, and I thought he was joking around. He stopped for a little while when he got into a serious relationship, but she just recently broke up with him, and he was really sad about it. But today, for the first time in quite a few months, he told me I was sexy again, so I said, "Haha, you're so funny," and he replied with "...I wasn't joking. I'm not like that. That would be rude." But I'm extremely confused now because the past few days, I've seen him talking and laughing with his ex. So, what do you think it means? And yes, obviously it was a compliment, but why?

it means he thinks your sexy, I had/have a friend from high school to now who I thought was sexy, I had a crush on her for quite some time but it was basically lust I felt for her so this is probably what he's feeling for you, just lust, when people call people sexy its a passionate physical attraction. I can't say for definite that he has emotional feeling towards you though.
