How do I apologize to my friend’s parents for being a bad house guest?

So basically long story short, a couple months ago in college I was invited to a good friend’s for pre-drinks and wasn’t watching how much I was drinking, accidentally got the most drunk I’ve ever been in my life and threw up on their couch... They still live at home with their parents so really I threw up on their parent’s couch! The parents were home at the time so I was mortified. I apologised and offered to pay to fix/clean everything while both drunk and sober but my friend said it was fine, that the couch covers washed perfectly and not to worry.

Fast forward to the summer, I’m going up to visit my college friends at the end of the month and this friend has said I could stay in their spare room to save me paying for a place. I haven’t been to the house or spoken to the parents since the incident. I am still insanely embarrassed and appalled by what happened and I don’t know how to approach a proper apology. I’m so anxious about even seeing the parents again. I’m definitely going to get flowers or something for them letting me stay over but is that enough? I don’t know what I should do...

Perhaps send them a card thanking them for trusting you by letting them stay at their place again?,,,
All us old farts were young and foolish once, and older people are a lot more forgiving and understanding than younger people often think,,,
Perhaps you have punished yourself over this incident, I mean it wasn't deliberate,,,

A lot of parents are pretty understanding of this kind of stuff from people in that age group. Heck, they were of that age at one time also! They are probably laughing about it. Don't worry too much about it. Probably don't do it again though... LOL

That’s a nice idea the flowers, honestly they will probably laugh about it by now it’s a situation that people laugh about after awhile, if it makes you feel better one of my friends threw up in my sink basically flooded the sink and my parents had to sink it with a plunge themselves, my parents laugh about it now

You can apologize and be sincere, genuine, authentic etc. the important thing is to let them know that it's out of character and you'd like to have another chance if that's what you want. Everyone has a bad day

My friend burned the wooden table by placing hot iron on it accidentally. So though my mom was upset, we forgave him for the mistake.

So I don't think it is much of a problem.
Some with me at one time too. It was an honest mistake

I think flowers and a genuine apology is appropriate. I think you'll find that they appreciate it and harbor no bad feelings toward you.

Just give them a proper genuine apology, they should understand 🙂

Apologize all you want, it probably won't help. The parents will most likely view you as a bad influence for their child.
