Why is mom suddendly interested in "dating" life?

My parents are divorced and after living on my own for a while I've moved in with my mother because she has a big apartment in the city near my university.

We have never spoken much about sex or boys etc when i was growing. Just the minimum sex ed speech.

But yesterday she told me outright that she doesn't care if i bring guys home to have sex and that she doesn't care if she can hear it.
She said it would be good for me if I got some "attention" and that im not a child anymore and shouldn't be shy about such things.

Why is she being so awkward like this now?
Why go out and say that?

My theory is that she's probably interested in it herself. She's been dealing with the divorce for a while but at some point she'll be ready to throw herself back into the dating pool. Awkward to think about when it's your parents, but she's only human, too. And she'll be thinking about dating and companionship and sex. The reason why she's telling you could simply be that it's just something that's on her mind, and she just wants to let it out. Or maybe she projects her own desires onto you. Or she wants to hear your opinion about it without directly asking you. Does that make sense to you?

Because she also wants to bring guys home and is giving you the same freedom so it won't be awkward and she wants to be more open to you and and have a more closer trusting relationship where you guys can tell anything to each other and ask for advice and such 😊

Maybe she's hoping for grandchildren? Maybe she's just trying to let you know that it's ok in case you weren't sure. It seems like a reasonable thing to say to a new roommate.
