Either they exercised bad judgement or it looks like they did. Imagine if a guy lived at the YMCA shelter and didn't have two nickels to rub together. Maybe he's there because he is lazy. Maybe he's there because a thief stole everything he had. Either way he looks like a bum so people who don't want to date bums avoid him. Plus, I have a lot of respect for a good mother. Even when I was young I knew that if a mom was spending half of her time dating dudes, she couldn't simultaneously be a good mom. The moms who had no time for dating had my respect. I do know (friends/family) some single moms who started out doing all the wrong things and later became way better. But at the end of the day their situation still isn't ideal cause even if they get a guy to come in and save the day/become the dad, odds are she won't really let him have the same authority over that kid as she would a biological dad and that means he's weak. A lot of guys aren't interested in that situation either.
