So I'm staying in my brothers house and we decided to go out for the 4th of July and while everyone else was in the car he asked me if I brought the extra house keys and I said no cause I wasn't told to bring it but he said that its something I should know anyways. I felt a little offended and I didn't like it. Was it something to feel offended? I felt like I was being blamed or something...

You were staying at his house and expected to follow his rules. We're more likely to respect the house rules when we're informed what they are. To expect others to just know the rules makes no sense.

Yes, you were being blamed, but is that a reason to get offended? People will throw their garbage at you frequently, but it's your choice to catch it or not. If it's not your problem, let him own it on his own. Never punish yourself for the dysfunction of others.

Why did he ask that? So that you and he would have more options so that if you separate and want to split up during the night, you can, and go home at different times?

I think the answer to your question, about whether he was being a bit rude or something, hinges on why he said it.

If I'm going out with a group and we're not for sure going back to the same place at the same time, then I'd bring my keys. I don't like being beholden to someone else's preferences.
