Why does my brother treat me like crap?

My 16 year old brother has always been a brat, but when he joined me in high school he started treating me like crap. He would send me away when I tried to hang out with OUR friends. He would get mad at me all the time and say mean things about me on Facebook. It got to the point where he just blocked all of his Facebook posts from me. I didn't know about it until my best friend told me. He tells me I'm annoying when I'm being myself, and he doesn't want me to even go near him anywhere.

The worst part is that during my only semester of high school, he missed me and we talked when I got back about theatre like a couple of friends.

I don't understand why he treats me like crap all of the time. I only try to help. I'm only being myself. It's gotten to the point where I am scared to even talk to him in fear that he will throw a fit and hit me or something. HELP!
