My boyfriend didn't invite me to a concert. Asshole move or not?

My boyfriend is going to a concert by his favorite band a few hours away with a group of guys. I found out through his friend's Facebook page. I asked him why he didn't ask me to go, and he said because there is not enough room in the car and because my parents wouldn't let me anyway (they're very protective and conservative). He said if there was enough room he'd invite me but I think that might have been a cop-out.

Am I paranoid to think he's just covering for the fact that there is some other, more negative, personal reason that he doesn't want me going?

True I can't expect to do everything with him. But I am home from college for the summer and so it's become a Long Distance Relationship. In August it'll be back to normal, but we hardly see each other at all, as of late.

Honestly? He probably just wanted to make it a guys only thing. Just because you're in a relationship doesn't mean you're attached at the hip. Personally I'm not comfortable with the idea of my friends and girlfriend intermingling on a regular basis, so if I'm planning on some sort of big event that involves getting my buddies together, the girlfriend likely wouldn't come.

He is probably doing it as a "guy thing" and he probably kept if from you BECAUSE he knows it is your favorite band and didn't want you to feel left out. What was he supposed to do? Either p*ss off his friends by bringing you, or make you feel jealous that he is seeing your favorite band. Not telling you was probably the nicest way he could have handled it.

Sounds like it was a friends day out, you wouldn't wanna take your girlfriend along for something like that? Plus he knows your parents wouldn't like it... I don't think it's an asshole move at all. You can't expect to do everything together
