My new boyfriend didn't invite me to a party. Should I be upset?

Good evening,
I had been dating my boyfriend for a little over 3 months now. I am 25 and he is 33. He went to a friend's birthday party tonight and he didn't invite me. I met some of his friends already and I feel a bit hurt over him not inviting me. I dont know the relationship rules. Am I right to be upset over this?

If it was a big group getting together and everyone is buying their own food I'd be a bit hurt not being invited. It seems like a good opportunity for them to get to know you and 3 months is an acceptable time for him to say he's bringing his girlfriend (not just his date).
If it was catered and he RSVP'd a month ago then I'd let it go but try to organise a get together

Yes you are. After three months, and he doesn't invite you, unless it is an all male party, that is wrong. It warrants a discussion between the two of you as to why he didn't feel it necessary to invite to you to go. Best of Luck

They aren't quite your friends yet. You shouldn't be upset. He may have needed guy time. He may not have been allowed to invite you. He may have wanted to do his own thing for the night. This is normal. People need to be individuals sometimes and that's okay.

Why would you be upset by that? That's pretty normal, most couples don't do that. That's like him being upset you didn't invite him to the mall when you go shopping with your friends.

I think i am upset because to me, my most valuable relationship is the one with my partner. I would choose to be with him over any other friend. It is just the way i am. And it was the first time we were both off the same night in a week then we won't be off the same night for another week and he chose to spend it with his friends and didn't even invite me. I missed him a lot and i was hurt. So.. :(

You sound clingy. No offense, but you do. It's really not that big of a deal. Not every free night he has should be dedicated to you because that's not healthy. You guys need time apart. Just let him be. Just because you met them doesn't mean you can now officially tag along whenever they hang out. He's allowed to have a life outside of you. You're overreacting.

Kind of depends on the guest list of the party, what kind of relationship you and he have and a few other things. In general, i can see how you would be upset, but it may not be a big deal at all.
