I think that's more usual than not...

Precisely because you have a lot more going, whether is a 5 to 9 job plus marriage, kids and your friends having that as well... that just reduces the "free" time that you have to hang out with your friends

Both life and people change, or evolve and not everyone does that, adjust to the new circumstances to accommodate your friendships, and sometimes is just not so possible or not possible at all.

In my case, I still have all my close friends... I'm still in touch with them, the bonds are strong and great, however, many of them actually live in other cities, even other countries... lol. So, to meet in person does not actually happen often so it goes online. We can always find time and get in touch online. And for the ones I have near, is just a matter of making or finding some time.

Besides them, I have other friends and acquaintances many, just different circles of friends that are not as close but that I can always meet up for other things, sports for example... I am not the closest with those guys, but some of them I know them from a long time now, and others are just fairly new people that I've met because we have one thing in common... playing sports. You definitely have to work on friendships for them to remain, that, if you want to them to last.

It's weird that you think this is my situation. I have more friends than I ever did before.
Maybe I am doing everything in reverse, like retirement in my mid 40s, instead if my 60s, rejecting material attachments that used to be valuable or engaging, telling everyone that gets on my nerves too just shut up or----

Nope, that seems to be the norm. It sucks.

The only parents I know that still mingle in larger circles are the heavy drinkers and they are also the ones with big marital issues.

No, because you don't see eachother everyday anymore, you're forced to leave them, but you can always get to know your colleagues and people from hobby clubs

Maybe as a child you'll want the 100 pennies.

As you get older you understand that carrying all this pennies can weigh you down.

Having four quarters is much better than 100 pennies when you get older.

It's weird but that is how it works. While you are busy raising your kids you do not notice it much but after your kids are gone, life seems a little lonely.

Absolutely. As people get older, people go their separate ways. Work, family etc takes a lot of your time. Most friends are either going to be the people you work with, or your significant other.
