Did Your Parents Tell You The Words “I Love You” A Lot When Growing Up? Do You Think That Has A Significant Impact On People?

I don't ever recall either of them telling me that they love me, mainly because I don't think they did or do. Probably one of the reasons I have a terrible relationship with them and have since childhood. Doesn't seem to have affected me as a person though, there were lots of things about my parents that made me not want to be anything like them as a result I made sure I was the polar opposite, and besides I got love from other places so I never needed theirs, more to the point I never wanted it.
Did they hate you?
Yes and it does affect you just like the people who didn’t receive hugs as children.. I have friends who didn’t receive hugs and or were forced to give them, now as adults they don’t like being touched. I personally find it strange because it’s like, how could your parents not hug and kiss you? Lol but I see why they find it strange that mine did.
But they just find that action strange, that’s the only effect right? So I wouldn’t call that “significant”
No It’s other things too! I notice that they get uncomfortable in situations that others would be fine.. they usually don’t like close contact, no touching (as we mentioned earlier), they usually are very distant from people. (Something I’ve observed though they rarely admit)
They don’t like being touched how do they have sex lol
Lol!!! I asked my best friend that. I’m like GIRL how are you handling business then? She was like that’s the only time I like it. But Im sure she doesn’t like positions where you’re in each other’s face. Like missionary, it seems like she’s VERY into oral & doggy.
They always told my brother and I, but more importantly, they showed it in the way they brought us up.
Thank you for MHG!

Well not too often , and I also didn’t like it when it was too much. Also they didn’t say it too much that’s because the culture I’m from they show love by actions. They paid my school tuition raised me feed me cloth me anything you can think.. until I finished college ! I believe that’s same with Asians parents too even though I’m not Asian
Pretty sure parents show love by actions and words everywhere. Has nothing to do with culture but ok đź’€
@cryscrys1 thats so true, I've seen a video of Asian parents being called by children to tell them "I love you" first time ever. So Asian parent gets shocked and says "So what?", "And?", "Do you want something from me? Such a lame way.", "Did you have car accident?"... And none said "I love you back".
*I mean "children" are adult people
What culture are you in though
No they didn't. and that didn't matter to me. I don't need anyone's words of love.
Will you tell your kid you love them a lot?
No, they didn't. It was the media we were consuming.
What do you mean?
My parents never said it and i prefer that
…. never?
