My beloved Grandmother did. She was a beautiful angel sent down from heaven! She would tuck me in, kiss me on the fore head, read a bible story, then sing to me. She had such an angelic voice too. I mean she could REALLY sing. I think if they had The Voice or American Idol back in the day she could have really been big. Not many women, especially at her age were hitting and holding notes like her. RIP sweet lady! <3
I think so, but they also taught me to read as soon as possible, so they became redundant!
If you have kids, there's an interesting tip I picked up from a funny cat video: turn on subtitles on TV programs the kids watch - they'll learn reading skills!
All the time. My mom read to me up until I was able to read on my own. Apparently she had to hide certain books from me because she got tired of reading them over and over again, lol
But my mom says that's part of the reason I love reading so much now so I'm glad she did 😊
Yes. All the time. And I read bedtime stories to my kids and they read them to us too. It’s our daily family reading time. Their dad reads to them and they read to their dad too.
We have a goodnight song we sing every night too.
Awwww! That’s cute. That song has a sweet message. Our song is just singing goodnight to all our family members. 😇
@exitseven 😳😳😳😳 yikes lol.
@exitseven I'd be worried about those kids when they grow up
@exitseven now I'm worried about you. Lol
Did you ever hear “jingle bells, batman smells, robin laid an egg. The bat mobile lost a wheel and joker took ballet!”
Haha! It probably got lost in translation.
Could be! Like people saying “butt naked” and “nip it in the butt” instead of “buck naked” and “nip it in the bud.”
@loves2learn I think this would make a good question.
@loves2learn I guess how you say it depends on what part of the country you live in.
😂😂😂😂😂 i think it depends on your generation.
@exitseven think so? 🤔
@loves2learn Yes, I could imagine all kinds of funny stuff people will say.
Thank you for the mho :)

Yes whenever I would sleep with my dad then I would throw tantrums for story even though he is sleepy and in the end he tells a panchtantra or Akbar birbal tale. That was till like maybe till I was 10 years. After that I got my own room with my sister.
It wasn’t really a thing in my household. I didn’t go to mainstream school. My parents let me look at picture books and skirt foster my own sense of story telling. They told stories of their experiences and made up stories.
Yes they did. Mum still does and it freaks guys out.
Yea all the times but most of the times i used to ask them about those strippers/prostitutes coming to our house to mum n dad so they would tell me about them about how they spend their days working for them
No. That's something I wish I had as a child but it never happened. All I heard while growing up was offensive words.
If I had kids I would definitely read them bed time stories.
Yes it’s how I eventually developed a love of reading. My older siblings, brother and sister did as well.
I read myself bed time stories. My Ma got me a boxed set of Disney books that read til they were falling apart lol.
nope, I would read by myself... and I would tell the stories to them next morning, or my dreams... lol
Usually, it's my mom who does. When my dad's home from whatever base he was deployed to, he does.
They both did, used to take turns. My dad made the best voices.
My mother did sometimes. I especially remember having my uncle reading my brother and me stories when we went on vacation.
Yes, sometimes. I had a few favorites that my mom read to me a lot.
Not necessarily at bed time, but my mother read me lots of stories and poems often.
They might have when I was a very small child but I don't remember them reading me a bedtime story.
I don't think my parents ever read me bed time stories
Yes, my dad used to read me a mermaid horror story before going to bed and I liked it a lot.✨💕
They did when I was a young kid, maybe up until 5 years old or so
Yes. Definitely remember my mom sometimes reading them to me
Never, yet now they ask me to read to them instead.
My dad read to me every night until I was like 10.
