I should've made it more clear.

Trending & News Wow. This question is an eye opener for me. I thought of Christianity as harmless, but the comments here are quite astonishing. How many people think it's a choice/mental ilness. Apparently we do need to defeat all religions, after all.
In my country, I heard of exactly two older parents who still have outdated views on this.
Otherwise nobody cares. Maybe it is the fact that only about 13% of us claim to be religious, and part of that statistic is "jediism" which is a way to mock the question itself.
But looking at research, there is an element of choice, but very small. I, as a 100% straight could apparently be conditioned to be more open towards men, but it wouldn't shift my default settings one bit.
Therefore, I would be disappointed since a gay child is less likely to procreate and even if they do, it's not going to be in an ideal environment for the child. But since I know it's not their choice, I will not blame the child in any way and I will be fully supportive. It would be much worse to have a straight child who actively chooses to remain childless. I would certainly object to that.
My parents' Godkids are gay and the way they see them is always the same as before they respect and support them because for us its not wrong if we care for them and besides they are all still human and even if they dont get a kid/s with there own blood there is still so many children on the streets and in the orphanage that doesn't have any parents the kids who always long for the love of a parent or a family so its not a problem to have a kid/s even if the kid/s they adopt is not there real blood as long as they want to adopt and they care and love for the kids its not a problem. thats just my opinion, I may be a straight and still a kid But I can understand some serious things that Adults can answer and Adult topics like how hard to be a parent, how to be an independent kid and My parents dont get bothered about that since they didn't notice I mean like when someone ask me how to be a good Girlfriend?, what does it mean when he take me on a date but we are not lovers? this kind of questions I can answer but other adult stuff can't since Other topics are not for me so in short of all what I said is"Whatever happens or whatever there sexuality is My other family members dont support them but they respect what they are and who they've become and as for my parents and I we are not part of LGBT community but we support every human we dont care about other people say😊😅.
They are still my son/daughter. Why would i see them any differently? I gave birth to them so that they could be their own person, and live life on their own terms, not to make me happy. I would accept their choice and welcome their SO into my family.
I’m Christian and see homosexuality as a sin. It’s unpopular in today’s culture, but I do see a lot of data concerning mental illness and promiscuous sex in correlation to homosexuality which personally validated what scripture says for me.
If my child told me he or she was gay, I’d give them unrelenting love. I’d let them know that I’m there for them no matter what. I’d comfort them in their time of confusion. Having said that, I would let them know that what they’re experiencing is something I’m not going to enable. If you feel urges towards the same sex, we need to realize this is unnatural. Some people has predispositions to addiction, but we don’t just enable addiction because it’s an urge. We work through these things. I support my child, but I don’t support all their decisions.
If it got to a point in which they were adults and they weren’t receiving my attempt to help, and it created resentment, then I’d have a discussion with them and let them know I won’t push anything onto them anymore. I’d let them know I was doing it for their best interest because I love them. I’d at that point just keep the door open and continue to love them and try and help guide them in other areas of their life where I can help. I’d pray for them and just hope that I can bring them closer to god in other ways.

Would make absolutely no difference to me.
My sister came out when she was 14 (16 to parents - that was 2 years of appearing to have multiple girlfriends lol).
I have zero problems with it, had that conversation up front lol.
The principle of being a parent is to give support to them and help guide them.
physical, emotional support is really important.
also the ability to ask anything they want or come out with stuff related to sexuality.
@shamiah02 ref your update, it really should not matter the gender involved nor what they are doing really and yeah I understood 🙄
I’ve noticed that there is common thing with questions on Abortion and Homosexuality.
Those that are anti abortion and also the same ones that are against to some level homosexuality.
There is the kid getting born, because their parents are pro life, under this allusion it’s a loving household. Then role on a few years, they decide they are Bisexual, gay, lesbian etc and what happens, they are kicked out of the house there and then, kicked out at 18 and disowned.
Wow the irony of that, what amazing love people have for their kids.
Basically some people should not be allowed to be parents.
Maybe they should add this as part of the getting married and having kids thing, if you plan to disown due to their sexuality, well you don’t get an option to have kids.
It wouldn't change my opinion of my children in the slightest. I love them unconditionally.
Yes, I realize I say this as a gay woman, but I don't love them any less for being straight just because I'm gay, do I? Why would it be any different if they told me they are gay?
For those who do look at them differently, ask yourself why. Are you more concerned about your child's sex life than you are about their happiness? If so, check your priorities. You helped give life to a human being, not a sexual object.
Focus on being happy for them and realize that your own bias can and will drive them away. Is it really worth losing a child over your own personal hangups? If so, I question your integrity as not only a parent, but as a human being.
Call me sexist or whatever - If my daughter comes out as a lesbian I'll actually really enjoy it - We could hit on girls together which leads to me actually enjoying father time - you know wing man wing woman - but if my son somehow comes out as gay - I'll act nice and accepting just so I could secretly plot how can i erase him from existence - HAHA I'm joking I'd never do something like that to my son.. https://tse2.mm.bing.net/th?id=OGC.b0a339b713b09516717c8630793a31d5&pid=Api&rurl=https%3a%2f%2fmedia.giphy.com%2fmedia%2fkCwOAiFe96wUg%2fgiphy.gif&ehk=nHPrGkWjAWnz7LdVGsa2u3C%2bm6746bjmShjft1us8xU%3d
I’d tell em they can be whatever they wanna be but that i better not catch them acting on it while under my household. I’d say the same to a straight kid who wanted to get sexual underage. Save that shit for when you’re 18+ and out my house. And the kid would know that i tolerate this newfound trend but dont encourage nor support it. I’d still love and respect them but i’m not gonna attend the wedding
You can be gay once you leave my household. Please do not bring any one of the same gender in my household and say y’all dating. If you wanna meet him somewhere go for it idc. I just don’t wanna see it. I love you and I always will, cause your my family but that don’t mean I gotta accept your choices
So you would never go to their wedding? Never meet your grandchildren?
Its not really a choice. But I think you are right, you are far to young to know what you will do at the time.
@This_Is_My_Opinion8 i would never accept grandkids being raised by the same gender & even more because they're not my blood.
There is no way I wouldn't be a protective parent in general. Having a girl would make me more protective. I can very much see my child coming out making me more protective as well. I wouldn't see them differently. Because my childhood left me with a messed up head of years. I'm not going to chance doing something that can mentally or emotionally mess them up.
As much as I would like to say I would see them the same I can't know if I would I dont have many gay friends and have nothing wrong with it but it would effect my ability to bond with him as I would be comeplety blind at giving advise when it come to getting a partner
I'm not sure if I would TREAT her differently. She's still my daughter, and it's better than having a gay son. I wouldn't feel as bad if she was just bisexual, and still femine.
Than again if she was Megan Rapino or Rosie O'Donnell lesbian it'd be obvious from the start.
I wouldn't accept a Lesbian relationship, but if she was bisexual, it wouldn't bother me as much if she was still feminine, and interested in men. And if the girl was bi too. But I wouldn't want her to talk about her, or have them over for dinner together. I feel it would be awkward.
I think I would treat them differently... because they have become different - even though I appreciatethey are the same person they always were.
Just like as your children grow you treat them differently, I feel the core stuff is the same; they are still your daughter or son. You would just be adjusting different behaviors to match up with the new person they have expressed themself as to you.
May seem an odd answer, but with not being in this position as yet, the above is the best I've got
I would see them the same..
I mean come on does it matter their sexual preferences?
I’m 30 ! If I have a kid when I go 50 my kid will be 20 by 50 I will have - + 20 years left! If a car doesn’t crash me ofc
Will I be bitter why my kid is gay or lesbian? No way. I will be happy forever!
Doesn't matter if they were son or daughter, as it would be a terrible waste of their life pursuing such a dead end existence. Can understand why most of them choose to end their life.
But I blame the tenured academic shitsacks that make money peddling their psychobabble to vulnerable kids. Confusing them into thinking they are something they are not, all so they can sell more shitty books and seminars about their conjectures.
Why does it matter? You love who you love. You are who you are. It doesn't change the person, it adds to them. Like "Okay, you're gay. Brilliant. Just use protection and stay safe." That would be what I would say to my niece if she grew up and came out to me as gay. Or my brother. I don't want any kids
When I came out to my parents they didn’t see me the same. They haven’t talk to me in 5 years. Until they found out I am making a good living.
@Cassie_1992 sorry that’s really fucking shocking
Ye I wouldn’t care. My daughters pretty level headed if she wasn’t I would be concerned (so one of them that would be gay one week and straight the next)
Why would I see them as any different? They haven't changed
I had a daughter try and get a rise out of me when she was around 15 told me she wanted to tell me something but didn’t want me to hate her and was being way dramatic about it and when she confessed her big secret I told her ok so what’s the scary news you’re worried about telling me and she stormed off to throw a fit first thing I wouldn't care either way and I knew she was just trying to be dramatic and I didn’t bite she was my trouble maker
If I were Married ad had children and one came an told me that they were/think they are gay it would not make any difference to me, they would still be my child and I would love and support them. Maybe I see things differently to most as I had an uncle who was gay and it has always been a part of my life.
As a single father of my Doughter i did what i would do with my boy too i mean we went to Chase a Man for her as she wanted me to help her. i did. if my boy ask me help him to chase a girl i would help too i mean for our childrens their gender regardles the feeling they make us that we are their father mother that they would trust us blind fold that is what is all about gendrs are irrelevant with our feelings our senses and chemicals our brain produce
Of course if i get lesbian/ gay child i will be disappointed and feel bad and always wory about diseases gay people get and the way his /her average life span reduce and i think its parents fault they haven't done good bring up of thier kids
@Paul09 typical liberal. Assumes that everyone in the whole world holds the same beliefs as yourself. I can’t argue with you cuz you’re an idiot. Try to read the opinion again if it helps. I doubt it will though. Cheers.
I'd think that they are easily brainwashed. No homo tv shows, clothing, Internet surfing or dating allowed in my home. If they still feel homo when they're an adult they can do that in their own home.
In my family, as long as you have at least one biological child with someone, it is not a concern, otherwise I would be teaching my future children how to separate the wants from the needs and act upon the Bisexual person's paradise implied in what I said.
I would definitely seen them differently and would take them to see help because being LGBTQ is a medical problem that affects the brain because humans are wired to want the opposite gender and to remain the gender/sex they are at birth and any defect is a problem that should be treated with professional help!
If my daughter came to me.. and told me she was gay.. then yes, I would see her differently
I would see her as a lesbian
Yeah I'd see them as differently, I'd see them as gay when I used to see them as straight. But would that change my love for them? Nope.
I'd still love my child just the same.
If you wouldn't love your child just the same, it is YOU who has a problem, and you need to figure out what the fuck is wrong with yourself and why you care who your child has sex with.
Is this something you are contemplating telling your parents?
Honestly I would feel some disappointment but if they are a full grown adult they can make their own decisions. If they are still a minor I could chalk this up to “experimenting”. I wouldn’t be happy about it but I wouldn’t condemn them either.
It doesn't matter to me. I'm going to support them 100% and make sure they feel loved.
The only one thing that would come across my mind is whether or not if they'd have kids some day, since it'd be dope to have grandkids lmao
Well, as a parent , you should know if ur child has those tendencies, unless you just don't pay attention... but that's ur kid , if u have issues with that , maybe u shouldn't have kids..
Theoretically (I don't have kids) that's my child. I gave birth to them. I'll love them no matter what. I'll do everything I can to make sure they feel loved and accepted in the family.
I would not care. If they suddenly "came out" to me I'd be more surprised that they thought they even had to tell me.
More then likely I already knew. And I don't care either way. My dating rules for the kid remain the same.
I don’t have kids, but I know it would definitely change my perception of him/her forever. I would still love them, but there’s no way to not see a person differently after that. Even though I like d it’s still a little awkward to find out a family member is the same. I know because 2 of my cousins turned out that way.
I'd see them the same way and if anything I'd be more protective to make sure they felt supported with it
Son or daughter this would never happen because in my family we know from childhood it's wrong.
F your selfish, useless"family" tree. Overpopulate the world for what? You will be dead, who cares. And to have no freedom to be who you are. Because morons Will l disown their own children... Wow. Get some respect and empathy. Treat you kids like a breeding factory.. You don't love your own kid because their gay.. Is the dumbest sh*t.
@Paul09 "dislike" isn't the word, "disappointment" would be more accurate.
"And again your dead, you will not care about your legacy.."
your family must be a very short lived people. Mine hang around to their mid 90's. Also I believe in ancestor spirits. So yes, I'd know. And what you find not important is for me my whole reason for being. Selfish? Yeah I guess. Who doesn't want their progeny being on top of the world? Would be awesome if they were a strong world leader, business tycoon, or had a powerful celeb status. Not that it matters much. Like I wouldn't care what they did for a living so long as it wasn't gangbanging or prostitution or something. But people have ALWAYS had multiple children with "spares" in mind. Thats a fact browski. Don't like it? Go hate on biology or take it up with God. People work their whole lives for others. They are allowed to be a little selfish at times.
@Paul09 who said anything about God or religion? I said ancestors as in ancestral spirits. I've witnessed it first hand, so have others in my family. I'm gonna keep making my bloodline proud. You do you boo-boo. But my children will inherit this earth. Not those who choose not to have kids. Modern morality is to have mentally ill people cut off their penises and attach lab grown ones onto themselves. Or aborting the unborn in the womb. I have no reason to justify anything to people who support such things.
@Paul09 i have no idea what you just said. " It is there God us to co-exist." what?
who said anything about destruction? You're moronic. Everything in life is about conquest. The food you consumer, the person you romance, the big job you get, the land you claim dominion over, it's all conquests. Who lied to you?
@Paul09 i dont subscribe to the overpopulation theory or the fear mongering of those with an agenda to horde the resources for themselves more. I dont subscribe to global warming in how it's presented either. It's a natural occurrence that has fluctuated throughout the history of our planet. People are always going to fight for the resources of our planet no matter what. I'm not gonna have my bloodline killed off because some idiots in the 3rd world wouldn't cap it when THEY are the ones who shouldn't be reproducing if they can't feed and cloth themselves.
I’d see them differently. It is there choice in life but I would not be supportive of there decision. I would still love them but I would think differently of them.
I pray to god my child doesn’t come out gay. Sorry. I don’t hate gay people. I just don’t want a gay child.
@TPmazembe To God Gays or equal to murderers
I wouldn’t be happy about it and I would prefer straight children but they’re still my child so what to do?
Won't have that problem. No way am I bringing children into this messed up, problematic, perverse society.
I’m not a parent but if I was, I would try to make sure that my child knew that their sexual orientation doesn’t affect my love for them
Your child is your child, no matter what. As long as they are happy that’s all that matters. I would love my son or daughter exactly the same
If you kid loved killing people and that made them fill fulfilled , would you be cheering them on?
Are you really comparing being gay to murdering people?
God says it is the same. You break one commandment , you broke all. So, yes Homosexuals are murderers. Sometimes they actually kill each other with AIDS
I feel like as an attentive parent I would have seen it coming.
Can't really say if you don't have children, right? I don't know.
My sister is a lesbo and it doesn't make a difference in my life because I dont want to bang her. What she does with other women or doesn't do with men, is none of my intrest because its nothing away from me.
So, you are happy she will end up in hell?
so you see someone being killed and you do nothing because it is none of your business?
i would automatically see them differently and still love them. welp i guess this one isn't gonna give me grandkids.
Oh they can adopt , the liberals put them in front of the line over normal couples
She hasn't changed anything about herself, just acknowledged her sexual preference. It wouldn't affect the way I felt about her or how I saw her.
I would tell them that they can't make it to heaven by insulting God that way. I will not allow same sex partner in my house. If wife protests then she can live with them also.
@tiajoka If I had to.
And I hope they'd some day learn that all religion is a sham and no gods are real, and that they deserve all the love and happiness their heart can stand while they're here on Earth.
@Romulus8817 And I hope you stop being a fool before you end up in Hell forever
Yeah yeah. Hell isn't real but go off King
@Romulus8817 You will see but it will be too late.
@888theGreat very well said and my sentiments exactly.
@tiajoka It is what I said and she can leave , if wants a divorce , granted
tiajoka... GODs commanded commandments suggest a man can ask for a new wife under circumstances especially if she's not obedient to GOD in the first place. You women think the Bible says for a man to provide for the woman , but its melody towards provision of the wife consist of leadership and spiritual guidence towards the good lord and GOD. Once GOD receives you as a part of his holy family , then GOD is the provider. You intolerance is an abomination towards GOD and direct denial of GOD also.
@tiajoka Great we would both be happy
@tiajoka no he is correct
I'd be making sure I had another kid to give me grandkids.
My nephew is happily gay an that's his choice I don't dislike him anymore for his choice
I would only care if they were happy. I don't give a shit who someone sleeps with.
Well I would see them as gay then, so differently lol
Differently. Because they are different. ("Queer" being the most literal term.)
No differently than if they came out and said they wanted change religion even though that was kind of big deal to me.
I would see them differently, but I would make sure that they could live the best life that they possibly could.
Get the fuck out of my house! I will not have two men fucking one another under my roof! I do not care, I will adopt another child who will no be ficked in the head!
Yeah of course but I’d probably know before they told me
If my daughter did then I'd pick on her about finding a nice lady to settle down with. :)
I wouldn’t t care I would ask them to adopt since I want grandkids someday
I would like to think that I knew my child well enough that I would already know
Depends if they're just gay or if they're "LGBT". Very different.
I mean, I would see them differently but that does not mean I would treat them differently.
You can also add your opinion below!
