How can I convince my mother to stop being a hoarder?

My (20M) mother (36F) is one of those obsessed hoarders, and though I do my best to keep clean, she doesn't help me and doesn't want me to throw away anything.
We live in 3 rooms and every room is filled with junk, trash and filth.
I work and she doesn't, and every time I try to ask her ti clean a bit or find a job she gets angry, cries or threatens to kill herself.
Our water heater broke down and although I gave her the money for a new one, she somehow lost them and claimed I never gave her anything.
I don't know what else to do, I want to leave or help her but every time she gets angry or cries.

I've discovered a literal swarm of bugs and maggots in the drawer where we keep the dry biscuits and breads, and some under the fridge too (we use It for storage as it doesn't work, for now we keep cold stuff on the balcony outside).
I can't take it anymore, I want to get the fuck out of here

It’s a mental illness. You can’t convince a hoarder to stop, she needs to see a doctor.

My neighbor was like that… the sheer amount that was removed from their home. Incredible. It must have been jammed in. Filled two huge dumpsters as big as the front of the house.

Are you able to get your own place to live?
If it gets desperate where you think her health is at risk you can call your cities health and safety dept.

The fact that she cries when you suggest cleaning or removing some of her “stuff” shows she has issues that go beyond the things she hoards. My mother was a hoarder, but she was never left to live alone, and we never let her accumulated a house full of stuff. We would have fights about her keeping things.
Nobody needs 20 ice cube trays Ma!
She needs help, if you can get her there.
