Should you apologize for replying late?

I'm a bit turned off when someone always replies late and hasn't the decency to say they're at fault. I know internet friendships aren't that important, but still, a little tactfulness is appreciated.

Yeah, usually. I'm actually very bad about getting back to replying people, especially via text or online. But I at least try to apologize to them and explain why it took me so long (eg: I was busy, not feeling social, or couldn't reply with an answer at the time).

Obviously if I like someone or enjoy talking to them, I will try to reply to them in a timely manner, but unfortunately life happens... and there will be times I'm just unable to reply to someone when they expect me to.

I never do and I never expect anyone to do as well. It does not annoy me when other people reply late. They are taking their time or they simply do not feel like responding to me. It is perfectly fine in both cases.

First, it depends on timing and location. I have friends who live on the other side of the world, which means they could be sleeping when I'm texting!

Second, responding to a text immediately, may not be possible for other reasons, like work or poor reception.

But if it's consistently an issue.. . Then you need to evaluate it.

It depends on the context. It depends if expectations have been set that you are actually having a conversation. Like, did you say, "Hey. Can you talk right now?". Things like that. A major part of communication is actually communicating ABOUT the communication itself.

If one had time to reply then didn't yes or if it's been some timey length afterwards then yes. Then relationship I would say kinda always.

No. I do not expect anyone to be on their phone 24/7. I myself also take my time to answer when I’m busy.
