Which tends to be more effective: soft parenting or physical discipline?

I don’t know what the definition of soft parenting is. I am going to only assume it is the opposite of physical discipline. That said, I would choose soft parenting as my method. I have no reason to hurt/hit or physically abuse a child.

There are other ways of dealing with misbehaviour without resorting to violent tactics. I think you are also then teaching them how to behave when the grow up and potentially have children of their own.

I’d much rather take a firm, but non physical approach to raising any kids I may have in the future.

I respect your opinion and basically you have the understanding of soft parenting, it is the direct opposite of physical discipline. My belief is it allows you to verbalize discipline versus physical discipline, which we may disagree upon I do feel at certain moments is a necessity. It is an alternative not a necessity.

I don’t believe physical discipline is necessary because kids listen to their pastors and bosses and professors and managers without somebody threatening to beat them up for disobedience. I only know two people in my family who were disciplined in a physical way and both are arrogant and rebellious liars who refuse to accept advice from others. I was never disciplined in a physical way after age 8 and I’m the most obedient kid and employee and student ever.

I’m saying it desensitizes people to social manners so that they no longer rebuke to emotional control but must be treated as brute creatures of fear

Lol, I absolutely understand. Sometimes you just need a reminder to either listen to what your parents have said or a physical reminder to still listen to what your parents have said. It gets the message across.
