Trending & News I trust each strategies are needed in specific conditions while elevating a baby. It is crucial to teach your toddler discipline, bravery, and boldness, however being overly strict may not always be the first-rate approach. There are instances if you have to be a bit emotionless, specifically while your toddler studies minor injuries or setbacks. For instance, in the event that they need to climb a tree and fall whilst attempting it, it is important to allow them to try and then assist them get lower back up and encourage them to strive once more, gaining knowledge of from their errors.
On the other hand, showing love and take care of your kids requires a mild approach. Expressing affection and guide need to be completed in a loving and worrying way. However, it is also important to recognize that some realistic outcomes and pains are important for a kid's growth and improvement. When your youngsters make mistakes, it's critical to area them appropriately earlier than life does it for them and the results become greater severe. Sometimes, being corporation and direct is vital, just like existence itself teaches us precious lessons.
I didn't vote. I think it's kind of both, but also I wouldn't describe as "strict" or "gentle".
I think a good parent cares about their child more than themselves, whatever their style. I think some parenting from both styles can be selfish, like the strict parent who is trying to live through their child and not caring what the child loves, it's just their "second chance" to live a perfect life. Or the "gentle" parent who is actually just lazy and selfish, and not involved in their child's life.

Ideally, you want to impart discipline to your child, and this means being strict about some things. But you also want them to feel your love, feel confidence in exploring who they are and the things they love. To have conversations with them, treat them as valued members of the family, this is more gentle.
I refuse to do an either or. I really respect how my parents raised me. There were times when we were sat down and spoken to like intelligent children who could comprehend right and wrong, and asked to find better ways to handle our issues or fighting with my sibling and there were times where we were told, this is it, this is the only way, don't continue unless you want consequences like being grounded which involved taking away anything that brought us joy, lol, so not fun. I think you need a balance. Too much of one or the other, is rare that the kids come out so adjusted.
I believe in gentle parenting.
However, I also believe that even though I’ll be very gentle, they should know world will not be a gentle place, so they should learn independence early on, they should know they’ll always have my back, but they should also be equipped by what it takes to survive and strive on your own.
I always think my future husband should be able to be a little bit strict, because I am very gentle and we’d have to be balanced. I am not very good at being strict.

Gentle parenting = kids that grow up having little respect for rules or seniors, etc., who think that tantrums and tears will get them what they want, who are the entitled people that expect respect & give little, etc.
Strict parenting = kids that grow up fearful or as bullies, who are overreactive to situations because they learnt this from parents and/or they could never "vent" properly as kids and don't know how.
A GOOD parent uses a bit of both depending on the situation. Only an idiot thinks that you can apply the same parenting style to every scenario.
A bit of both. You can’t be friends with your kids. Draw a line where being friendly and leniency ends. And start acting like a parent so you get the respect! I love my parents so much. I’m super close to them. But I do not disrespect them. They support my decisions and dreams but I don’t abuse their money or love.
The choice between gentle or strict parenting is a personal decision that may vary based on a parent's individual parenting style, cultural background, and child's personality and needs. While some parents may choose gentle parenting to create a positive and nurturing environment for their child, others may opt for strict parenting to establish discipline and boundaries. Ultimately, the best parenting style is one that suits your child's needs as well as your personal values and beliefs. It's always important to remain open to a flexible approach and adapt your parenting style to meet your child's changing needs.
I think the answer is in the middle for both parents to foster the best results for a child.
I grew up feeling loved by both parents and also fearing both Parents. It’s important for the child to realize there is no loophole in chain of command. It’s important for them to come to terms with that
I got lectured by a mom for yelling at my kid when he was about to follow a dodgeball out into a busy road... I'm generally pretty calm and collected with my kid, but when it comes to safety sometimes you have to yell.
The answer is different for every child.
When I was younger my aunt ran a daycare a few blocks from our house and my sister and I helped out a lot. That experience taught me two important lessons about children.
First, boys and girls are very different from the beginning. Anyone who says otherwise is either a fool or is pushing a social agenda.
And second, every kid responds to different things. Some do great with "gental parenting", and others completely blow it off and do whatever they want uness there are consequences. The latter group definitely needs more strict and structured parenting.
Every kid is different, and only the parents know the best answer for their particular child. Everyone else needs to stop sticking their noses where they don't belong. Let parents parent their children the way they know is best, and stay the fuck out of their business.
I grew up with strict parents. They were very domineering but also very loving and always had my best interest in mind. Unfortunately, it often led me to sneak around and be untruthful so it became counterproductive to some extent. I made it through okay though with good values and the ability to think independently. My younger sister is still stuggling with things and I try my best to coach her without contradicting my parents.
I would like to be both. My mother was very abusive towards me. My boyfriends parents, just practically abandoned him. I want us to Mr a mix of firm and nice 🥰
Yes, I believe in that too. Strict when needed but affectionate and sweet when needed.
It should be a balance of both and appropriate to the situation. Children need structure and routine so that way they can develop a good rule of life and personal discipline. But parents also need to be patient and understanding as their children develop.
Gentle is good, especially with very young children. But there are times when the parents needs to put their foot down. I've seen too many parents who couldn't say no and didn't enforce it when they did say no. Their kids have serious problems and terrible attitudes.
both. I think we have too much gentle parenting allowing kids to discover and repeat offenses. I no expert.
unfortunately kids need trained and they need to suffer consequences. buffering them from consequences is a bad plan. giving them opportunities, supporting them to succeed makes sense.
some of this is dependent upon the kiddo.
I accidentally chose strict parenting when I was going to choose a bit of both. I would be strict in the sense, if I found out my daughter was bullying anyone, I would pull her up. I would also gentle in the sense if she were to be found drinking while underage, I would sit her down , and have an open and honest conversation with her but in a gentle way.
I would want the parents to appear approachable for child for any problem she/he faces... strict parenting would make it difficult to do so!
Still, not so gentle that they have no fear while doing bad things...
A child needs both. You need to be as loving and nurturing as possible, but if a child misbehaves you need to be a disciplinarian and withhold that nurturing and loving feeling you only provide for proper behavior. You can’t always be the good guy out of fear of that child not loving you.
Gentle parenting. Because there’s no need to be strict unless you suck at communication and being a parent overall.
You speak to the child. You explain to the child. You give the child important Information. You can’t expect the best behavior from a child who is ignorant on how to behave appropriately. 🤦🏻♀️
I prefer doing both cause soft parenting just lets others raise your kids!
Aw cute he is banging on the soda machine for the 10th time!
Kid stop banging on it your going to break it more! Stop skating in the halls 3 other teachers have told you this!
Yes I'm a teacher lol 😅.
The worst parenting is never saying NO to your kid.
It's not new age it is irresponsible 😔. Making them learn no from society!
I don't have gentle kids so I can't gentle parent 😂
Don’t copycat the bad guys!
It needs to be balanced and the parenting needs to be as painless as possible. You can be strict but they need to understand and learn about the consequences first before you can be strict. Give them proper reasoning and listen to their point of view. If you disagree with their point of view, challenge their point of view instead of just dismissing it just because they are children.
I will be a gentle parent and only strict when I have to be for my kids safety
Parenting is a unique and indavidual selfless behavior. What we all think is very different, it’s no one’s entitlement to ever speak ill of another’s parenting.
Gentle with some strictness. If you leave out the strictness, you end up with a lot of those fucking goofy climate activists gluing their hands to the road until they get what they want!! A bunch of spoiled rotten brats!!
It's a mix of both. As the Dan Fogelberg song said of a father:
"He earned his love through discipline, a thundering velvet hand, his gentle means of sculpting souls took me years to understand.”
i was very strict with my young kids , but never physical punishment. now i am less strict, not young, so daughters can wear short shorts etc.
Keep in mind that if you go too far "gentle parenting" there's going to come a time when that kid means someone who isn't.
I was a hands on parent. I tried to not let little problems become big ones. I let my kids have fun but not too much fun
Just "parenting".
Too many dipshits seem to think you have to have a "side" in everything.
Both. Be gentle normally, then strict when a mistake is done. Adapt to the situation to make sure the kid knows that being nice would grant him the niceness, and being bad will grant him the punishment.
Spare the Rod, spoil the child, that’s what I heard
I was having so much fun that I forgot to get around to have kids.
I'm thinking I would have been fairly strict.
I try to gentle parent but sometimes kids don’t be gentle childing 🤦🏻♀️
I believe in strict discipline being given by the woman in charge.
I believe in being a good friend with the kid and also good parenting. It depends how they behave sometimes strict is necessary if they act up but sometimes it’s not
Gentle most if the time, structure when appropriate
It has to be both, the real trick as a parent is to have figured out when to use 'Gentle Parenting' over 'Strict Parenting' and vice versa.
Gentle parenting worked on me. When I got out-of-line, all it took was a disappointed look from either of my parents for me to stop.
I don't know the real answer or what the real answer is only that I know I could never whip children it hurts me. Maybe that's why I never had children.
I would take the middle approach. Have common sense rules, but don't be mean to the little ones. There's no reason to be a cruel dictator.
There needs to be a balance. You need to be able to get your kid to see you as a guide, not as a friend nor as a ruler.
I think it depends on the situation. Sometimes you need to be strict and sometimes gentle :)
the better option is NOT parenting and keeping your money to enjoy your life and create a business
You gotta have balance.
more gentle parenting
Strict and you loosen the noose as they mature.
Both. One doesn’t disturb the other.
A delicate balance.
Emotional intelligence, boundaries, discipline,
Patience
Greed
A bit of both.
No idea.
A mix of both
Is there no middle?
