Is it okay to hit children when they misbehave?

I am Asian and Asian parents tend to be cruel sometimes. My parents use wood or hanger or straight up beat me whenever I made a mistake even a small mistake.

That's outdated parenting to be honest. It doesn't really teach a child anything except to not do whatever they were doing when their parent is around out of fear of getting hit. It also teaches some children that it's ok to throw tantrums and hit other kids in school.
With my son I never hit him ever. I would sit him down and sit with him. I would explain to him what he did that was wrong and why it was wrong. He would have to stay in time out until he could tell me what he did that was wrong and why it was wrong. If he wasn't willing to listen he would lose his favorite toy or game until he decided to listen.
I wanted my son to understand me and respect me, and always talk to me, not fear me.
It worked and he's a really great kid.

It's never good to hit a kid with anything or even say I'm gonna hit you or kick you etc. It gives kids a lot of trauma and they can't handle it when they are teenagers. That's one of the reasons teenagers do suicide 😕

So there is a lot of tension around this subject. I personally believe that the consequence should meet the crim. For instance people used to be killed if they took a life. Now that that is no longer a consequence people take lives effortlessly. Without something to terrify us we may be willing to push the limits to try and get away with something. Similar example is a dog that is just too thick or muscular to feel the discipline of their humans. Those dogs just do not care what you say. That being said it is not okay to abuse children just as it is not okay to abuse adults and when parents abuse their child we call it losing control or letting out our anger. That is equally not okay and in most cases I would say should have an equal consequence to meet the the crim. However no governing authority has the rite to know family trifles nor should they. So most governments have not yet found a ways to police the family situation apparently to protect children. As such my answer is to learn yourself and your strength. Learn to watch when you are losing your temper and keep it in check. If a child needs to be set aside momentarily until you are rational enough to discipline them then do so. But always fallow through with the punishment and see that your child understands right from wrong.

I don't really like the idea of beating up your kids but like a normal hit to the shoulder saying hey stop or arm is fine when you're trying to tell them to stop what they're doing Lol I told my parents that they are committing child abuse by hitting and they didn't react well. In my culture parents whip, beat up, and make you stand in a closet for hours. My mom starved my sis and I for 3 days but I bet some people would find this torture. i grow up in a household where the parents can do whatever they want to the kids and there's nothing you can do about it.

In most cases, a slap when a child is naughty only has to happen once.. The fear of it happening again should be enough by just a look.
After all, it's not about telling a child off to make you feel better. The purpose should be because you want to teach them right from wrong!

A slap on the butt that doesn't cause any injury is okay when the child does something wrong and it's not possible to just treason with them. The slap is to get their attention and to let you know that you mean business. It shouldn't be used every time though.

A little tap on the hand or whatever is fine. But fully on hitting/spanking is too much. I've tapped my kids hand/legs, popped their mouths for biting but hitting is extreme and something I don't feel comfortable doing.

Yes. But NEVER in anger. If you're angry, cool off, walk away, whatever you got to do before you discipline them. They're a kid and kids do stupid things. I got spanked many times as a kid lol and I remember my dad would put the fear of God in me lol. But that's how he kept me in line. My father would've NEVER harmed a hair on my head.
