Is it natural to love a baby that's not yours and treat them like your child?

It's been 10 years later and my male cousin misses the baby girl he once found crying on the dumpster.

He was allowed to keep the baby girl for only 4 months. The baby's godparents adopted her meanwhile the parents lost their custody. Till this day he wonders what became of her. He claimed to loved her like a daughter. He wanted to be her father.

Is it natural to love a baby as your child? It's not your baby but you love them like your child.

That was the first time he ever develop a bonding towards a baby. He loved that baby girl so much.

Abandoned children are not "found property." If abandoned and found, children go to foster care until relatives can be located. Children whose parents or extended families cannot be located or are unable to care for them become wards of the court.

I've developed feelings like an older brother for friends younger siblings or other little kids. To protect them and make sure they are happy. It's like an instinct that kicks in sometimes. I'm sure parenting instincts are like this but much stronger

It's interesting how natural instinct to hold and protect a baby is in most people. Meanwhile the ones that would throw a baby in the dumpster make up very few of the population. Still... if someone doesn't want a baby there are several places to turn him/her such as a hospital, police station, church, etc... not a dumpster.

True. Then again, it's not a natural respond to throw a baby in the dumpster either. If many people did that then the human species would be wiped out quickly.

I'll never understand how some biological parents can throw a baby in the dumpster instead of giving them away at a police station, at church or the hospital. Any of those places is better than a dumpster.
