How can I tell my mother I have a brain tumor?

I already did all the tests. It's benign, but it must be kept monitored. I still have not told anyone and I'm afraid she will freak out.

I am so sorry. That's extremely difficult news for you to bear. It will likely be equally hard for her too.

I don't know what specific methods would be best. These may seem obvious. Perhaps...

• Choose a time when neither of you will be interrupted, and it can be given the appropriate time to discuss.
• Do your best to answer every question she has. Don't dismiss any.
• Don't commingle it with a happy or celebratory event. You'll ruin it.
• Offer to her to speak to one of your doctors. She might be quelled sometimes by the professional diagnosis. She might think you are minimizing the prognosis, just to appease her.

Ultimately, as much as you don't want to tell her, or anyone, maybe, you need her, and others. It's you who is going through this. No parent wants to outlive their child, but it's your life at stake here, and you need all the love and support you can get. It might change your relationship with her, and others. Maybe there are things that could/should be said, but wouldn't have felt necessary until now.

Sorry to hear that !! You have go to tell her and like an adult. Succinctly, without emotion, and with explainable results. She will be so much better knowing you are a man and approaching it like a man. She will get upset but it will fall off given how you are handling yourself, doctor, and now Family. It is a tough thing though.
