Ex-friend going round smearing my name?

What should I do? My ex best friend (who was jealous and mean the entire friendship) kept doing things behind my back, so I "dumped" her out of the blue and blocked her on everything without explanation. That was the best thing to do at the time.

Now, she is going round apparently telling people I am "mentally ill" and telling them I take medication for mental illness, basically smearing my name to people. I think it's her way of getting back at me or something. I do take medication for anxiety and depression, but I told her that in confidence so she is spreading my secrets. I haven't said anything about her to others, just that our friendship was toxic so I had to stop being friends with her. She is telling people I am "crazy" so not to believe me anyway.

What should I do about her smearing my name to people? Should I ignore it?

People will judge based on each of your individual characters.

I imagine people "know" her, am I right? Does she have a reputation for getting in arguments with people and making new friends to replace the old? Does she get around? Some people might believe her at first, but overtime after they realize what kind of person she is and who you are, it will all become clear who is the crazy one.

Can you be patient for her character flaws to come into light against your nobility? That would be the safest, smartest route to take.

And don't be ashamed of being on meds, hon. I know tons of people on anxiety and antidepressants and they aren't crazy. You'd be surprised by the statistics. It's honestly pretty normal. And I think being open about it might do you some good. You'll meet other people an anxiety and depressions meds. Then you'll see you're not alone. I'm on bipolar medicine. And I live a really normal life.

Thank you sm girl, I agree I think our characters would have to speak for themselves. Unfortunately she's manipulative/charming and likes to lie about people and turn them against each other, and is often successful at it. That's why I'm worried tbh.

And thank you, I know it's nothing to be ashamed of, but she made it out like it's this big thing even during the friendship. She literally kept asking me if I'm going to "kill myself" because I'm on meds. It was crazy because I've never even mentioned that to her. And as you said it's pretty common nowadays.

Ignore her. Ignore anyone who takes her side as well. She sounds like a shitty person and people will eventually see that she was the problem and not you.
