My ex friend is spreading nasty rumors about me? What do I do?

She complained to me once a while back that when she was in HS girls spread mean rumors about her and all the girls were mean to her.

Truth is, she is mean to girls generally. She even sh*t talked her friends to me...Anyways. When she became very verbally abusive to me I cut her out of my life.

BUT now she won't shut up about me and is spreading rumors.

Truth is, I have a lot more REAL stuff on her.

How do I get her to stop? We are roommates and even when I'm in my room I can hear her talking sh*t about me in the common space. Our new roommate might even have bias against me now;. Help!

I am going to give you the most amazing advice ever in the world..move out AND NEVER EVER GET ROOMATES AGAIN! seriously roommates can kinda be helpful with the bills and crap but no one should be living in such confined spaces with people you ain't sleeping with...Now I say this because people you tend to sleep with have your interests and concerns at mind...sometimes,some dudes are just emotionally retarded with no commonsense...anyways...i having a roommate(s) was the worst mistake I have ever made...I would be rich and living it up if it werent for those irresponsible/inconsiderate jerks...Now females may be able to be cleaner and more apt to have everything paid and be actual roommates..i don't know from experience, but I'm going off the maturity level...financially as women are due to our desire to have security in our lives...however socially females are sneaky and vindictive beasts who,from the day they meet another female, use their skills to sniff out that persons weakness and flaws...then if they see the other as any kind of a threat they maticulously befriend them and wait until the time and effort is placed to gain trust...meanwhile doing tiny and easily forgetful b.s to mess with you and set the scene...then when they feel the time is right they attack..beat them down,get others involved as alias.and gang up on you until they feel satisfied...if not they'll be nice then wound..then nice thenbeat down...the only ones that have a chance are the ones they consider no threat..they swoop and kill first glance..quick and painless...that most likely didn't help you with your current situation...but it wil fo the future...if you can't move or boot her..i recommend confronting her,shes probably pissed you used her shampoo...spreading gossip around doesn't do anything but make it worse and normally people find it hard to believe the retaliator in the situation...so just confront her and if she continues and you don't want to just beat her ass...then just act like it don't bother you and go find other friends...she will eventually stop once she finds something else to play with...good luck with that...

You do a combination of things.

A) do react to them. Carry on with dignity.

B) confront her.

C) when you hear those rumors repeated by others,say something like "oh this must be the newest rumor form ( insert name) Rumor Mill. Then smile and say she needs to get busy.

Sounds like you're already starting to do this, but I think you should definitely try to distance yourself from this chick, as much as reasonably possible since you're roommates.

As for others, it sounds like this girl does a pretty good job of sabotaging herself with her pathetic behavior, and most people she's spreading rumors to will be able to consider the source and not take what she says very seriously. Sorta like no harm, no foul. Just try to ignore that crap and not get caught up in the drama.

Confront her about it in a gentle way, and if she still insist on doing it, you must start ignoring her now for good. Rumors don't really last long.

I would confront her, and if she gets aggressive then kick her ass.
