Would you consider a women a SINGLE MOTHER if she has her sister living with her helping her raise the kids?

My friend lives with her sister and helps take care of her two boys, 7 and 9 years old.

the mother works full time whilst the sister takes care of the house/kids (whilst the mum works different hours cause she’s a nurse) also the sister works a little doing odd jobs for a real estate company working from home.

so all in all the mother of the two kids is primarily the bread winner, paying the rent/bills and most of the utilities.

BUT would you consider the mother a “SINGLE MOTHER” even though she has 24/7 help with her two boys?

by the way she split with the father of the boys and he has nothing to do with them

Yes, she obviously still is a single mom and would almost certainly want financial assistance from anyone she dates and have him take on the role of father.

That’s incredibly privileged as a lot of true single mothers have to cut there work hours to take care of their kids

I agree but in a way she’s not really a single parent because her sister is practically acting as the role of the other parent so she has the same help as she does if the father was involved

Mother + job = still a mother
Mother + sister = a nice sister helping her sister who is a mother

Yes, by definition a single mother is a woman who has kids and is not married.
