Why did my dad buy me a fishing pole before he died?

i know its a stuipd question but i never asked

a year or two when me my dad & my stepmom moved to florida from new jersey my dad brought me a cheap fishing pole i wlays wounder why he brought it we never went fishing or talked about going.

i had to leave it in florida when i move back to new jersey as i toold a plane back.

To remember him by, he probably wanting g to go fishing with you but it just didn't happen for whatever reason. Maybe he want to give you a gift that you can pass on to your son or daughter. I use to go fishing with my dad, it was fun even though I never ate the fish. I just like catching it and spending time with him. It was very peaceful.

Maybe he'd just always had a wish to buy his kid a fishing rod and he decided to just do it. Maybe he knew he was gonna die soon and wanted to do that before he died so he wouldn't regret not doing it. I suppose there's a way you could've mailed it to yourself.

He probably had dreams of you two fishing and connecting. Maybe after he bought the pole he realized you might not be receptive to the idea.
