I don’t make enough for rent and hesitant to give my dad all of my money?

I live with my dad. We just moved into a new apartment and I started working later than expected. Rent is 2165. My portion is 800 but due to my job I barely make 600 a month. I’m moving at the end of March and naturally have other bills to pay. This month I paid the water, trash, wifi, and a personal payment due to autopay I couldn’t turn off. I told my dad I wasn’t able to make the 800 this month. He told me I had to give him my entire check. I still have two other bills I need to pay plus bus fare if I’m going to be getting to work and I need food in the fridge. I set aside money for these things surprised at the extra amount that’s on my check and left with $378. Should I give my dad the $300? Dad has bills too but he said rent comes first and that I shouldn’t assume he’s going to be paying my portion. I’ve always been on time with rent in the past and this will be the first time I’ve been short. I’m just in a bad spot right now and dad makes more than enough to cover rent. Been looking for another job and so far no luck. When I move I can get another job quickly due to a friend that seriously needs more people at his job and I’ve already been applying to places out there.
