Did you suffer the loss of a parent in childhood and how did that affect your life?

I'd consider any kind of disconnect a loss... divorce, distanced, jail, death. I consider childhood through early 20's.

Yes, my parents died in a car accident, head on collision with a drunk driver. Ended up with abusive relatives who basically stole my parents possessions from me and cheated me out of my inheritance small as it was. Ran away and was homeless throughout my teens. I met a girl my age who was running from an abusive foster family. For 3 years we lived together on the street and different hidden places until we found an old abandoned subway tunnel basically lived as man and wife. Anyway some junkies put us out of our place and I got arrested, while I was in jail she disappeared and was found naked in the dirty river a week later. I was 18 and after she was cremated joined the army and never went back. She was beautiful, closest thing to an angel this world has ever seen. She was always optimistic, loyal, caring, never hurt anyone, I never heard her say a bad word about anyone.

Wow, your life took some turns, my heart goes out to you. You're an example of resilience. I'm really sorry to hear about your first girlfriend/ wife. She sounds sweet, caring soul... empathetic. What a tragedy, and can only imagine how you felt.

My father died suddenly when I was in grad school. It was totally unexpected and there was a lot that was left unsaid between us that I was planning to address soon.

It's like as if this question was meant for me. Yes! I have suffered the loss of my parents in my childhood. My twin sister and I used to stay with our grandparents and grew up without any affection of parents. This has made us to be insecure and lack of self trust and so on.

Maybe it was, I just felt inspired to ask after listening to this song and meaning. So many of us don't realize how other people/childrens lives have been impacted.
I'm very sorry for the loss of your parents. I trust you can find the love and support you need. Do you know Jesus? That helps.
Child development is fairly well understood and you can explore and heal so you have a full life. There is no making up for parents, but you can get to a better place of security, I hope and pray.
It's amazing to see people from across the world here, Uganda. Amazing, that's the power fo the internet.

Yh I hope also I have learnt to be strong. And my parents are life. They just separated although later our dad came and took us away from our grandparents place

I was kicked out of the family home at 12. I saw my parents one more time at 15 and haven't seen them since. It made me have to grow up real fast.
