Do men really want women to have a social life?

The man I was talking to left me cause I have zero friends and dont have anyone else talking to me. Is it really important though to have a social life? I've been stabbed in the back so many time I just stopped making friends.

It all depends on what you need to stay sane and busy. Some people depend on other people a lot. If they lack friends they get depressed and if their significant other is the only one they can turn to then they become dependent and clingy. If you’re more independent and have your own interests and hobbies that keep you occupied, then friends aren’t all that important. So long as your significant other doesn’t have to entertain you and listen to you 24/7 then it’s not a big deal. My guess is that you are demanding too much of your boyfriend’s time and energy and he want some alone time, so he’s telling you to go get some friends since you can’t seem to occupy yourself with your own interests.

The only part hat matters is that he gets some time to himself sometimes. If she doesn't have friends he may think she will want all of his free time with her. Just tell the guy that he can still have some time to himself too and it should be fine in my opinion.

I agree with people being so messed up that sometimes it makes you not even want to put in the effort to have friends because the majority of people are not good friends and just users anyways.

I don't have friends either. I have always ended up being the support person and all my friendships turn out vampiric in some way or another. But I also just enjoy being on my own and don't feel the need to have friends anymore. I have passions that I'm invested in, and a dog, and I'm a generally friendly person. I'd never considered this might be a turn-off to guys😐so that's a bit worrisome I guess.

I don't think it's so much the presence of a social life that is important, it's just that if someone who has no friends or has crappy friends it tends to be a red flag towards the problem being them.

I think for a lot of people it's important that their partner has friends/a social life. You don't want to always have to be their only person. It's good if their partner is fine with being alone and be entertained, but friendships are important in life.

I would prefer that my girlfriend had one. If she doesn't before being with me, I become it. Then if the relationship ends (which, let's face it, is statistically likely) it will be pretty bad for her. The relationship ends and she has no support system to help her heal.

I think some friends are good so you each partner isn't totally dependent on you but after a couple, the larger social life a woman has results in an exponential lose of interest for me to want to commit to her.

That's a really shitty reason to just leave you like that. He's an asshole to have done that to you. You trusted him and shared with him and this is what he does. Total betrayal. He sucks.
