Do you regret the last words you said to someone before they died?

Maybe you didn't know they'd die unexpectedly or they were on their deathbed and you knew what you wanted to say, but now you regret it.

I have some of those regrets, especially regarding my father and my sister - especially the latter because I did say - not to her face, but to another person - that I didn't want her around if she "had to be like that" because we were arguing at the time.

I only regret that my stepmother didn't tell me my dad was dying and I never had the chance to tell him goodbye or that I loved him and despite our many arguments and disagreements, I learned a lot from him and was/am a better man and father because of him.

No, but my father dies suddenly and we had grown apart. He was getting ready to retire and I was changing careers and would soon be unemployed. I had planned a couple of activities we were going to do and I had hoped that we would have a better relationship. He died suddenly the day before.

Yes. My last conversation with my mother was basically an argument.

She died two days later.

yes, I have couple of those too.

My father simply went to sleep and never woke up. He was terminally ill and his death was expected. I was in his hospital room when he died. No regrets.

My father died suddenly at age 70. I never thought of him as old. He went to work one day and collapsed and died. It was totally unexpected. It was really hard on me and my brother but now I always say he died the way he would have wanted, he never would have like d the nursing home scene with the bad food and sing alongs.
