Debt is not Debt  but I am going to assume you mean one total lump sum, so, 42,500 in debt as of 2/28. There is a better way to financially account for Debt by delineating between the Good and Bad Debt. Yes, all debt is fundamentally bad, however, in a practical world we have Debt.  So, both Lending institution and Credit Agencies classify Mortgage loan, Real Estate loan, Business loan, and even School loan as  good Debt . I have or have had at least one of each of these types.  Bad Debt  examples are credit card, individual store cards, and cars. Even if paid properly they take time to be advantageous.  Nothing lowers your Credit score quicker than Student Loans and nothing  ruins  your credit quicker than missing ONE of those payments. All the Sirens go off and credit from a 625/650 student to 550...  By these terms I have 6,248 in  Bad Debt  which should be gone by 3/31. I hope to be done with debt before the hyperinflation and $4.00 loaf bread starts.

That's a loaded question... We pay off our credit cards each month, but there's always a few thousand dollars each month in charges. We have a mortgage that has around $92k left, a car payment that has around $3k left, a car payment with about $750 left, and I have student loans in the total of around $31k, my wife around $12k. All told that's around $140k in debt. The thing is, we have more than that in assets (cash, property, investments, annuities) by around $200k, so yes, we have debt, but we are above water.

Right now I have none, but I am going to college this fall. I have some savings and am working my ass off so that I can be in less debt

I have none, except for a few bills that need to be paid because I can't find my good damn checks to pay them but, my aunt stuck me with a mortgage on this house that I'll have to use ALL of the money I have left to pay off and about another $9000 beyond that!! It's gonna be at least $28,000.
