Are the compliments you give to people always genuine, or do you just say things to be nice and pump them up, not really believing what you're saying?

I would just compliment something I actually liked about them, rather than lie, and give them a "false sense of security"

Sometimes geniune, sometimes to make them feel comfortable in their own skin because they are feeling down. Sometimes to motivates them.

When you're trying to make them feel comfortable, or motivate them, are you straight lying with what you tell them, or is kind of what you actually think? Like have you told someone they were cute, or pretty, or handsome, etc, but you didn't actually think they were at all?
