No. That seems... odd to me. But then I don't say that phrase to anyone so 🤷‍♀️
Take that with a grain of salt.

I show them that I care by listening, talking to them, paying attention to them, and remember things about them and their life- to me, that's better than saying a phrase that people say way too much, but don't always mean.

Absolutely! It's always "Love ya" when I'm leaving or ending a conversation, and "I love you" when they do something funny/endearing/stupid. I've lost too many people to get hung up on the platonic/romantic line. If I feel a certain way about you I tell you.

Honestly it's appropriate to tell your friend "I love you" when he or she is drunk or dying or when that person is in big trouble and that's the only way out who which usually means he or she is drunk. Other than that, it's just an awkward moment in the friendship.

Yes, my best freind and i have been best freinds for like 30 years. I we say I love you to each other, but it's in a brother's type of way... or in family way like you love your cousin or something... not gay.

yeah. I always say that to my best friends when we say good bye after not seeing each other for more than 2 or 3 weeks. plus when we have heart-to-heart talks, are drunk, or at special occasions.
