Do you think it should be illegal for parents to force their older kids to look after their younger siblings?

I have seen someone with my own eyes for the past 8 years who has also forced her older kids to look after their younger siblings. Basically, when the kids come home from school, they are made to watch their sisters, and if they don't, they get yelled at. Even if the mum has been at home all day and night and isn't doing anything, she still makes the older kids watch their younger sisters, who are 8 and 3 years old. The 8-year-old does have a disability that is a form of autism.

I know the older sister doesn't mind watching her younger sisters, but for the 16-year-old boy, you can see he is depressed because, on top of having school, his mum made him get a job, and she also makes him watch his sisters. He rarely gets to hang out with his own friends.

Its illegal for some ages. (At least in germany)

Parents can't leave their kids at home alone until they reached a certain age.

There has to be an older person supervising the kids present, this may also be the older sibling, but the older sibling has to be a certain age or older.

No but it should be shamed. No kid should have to give up their childhood to raise someone else's kid.

I agree. I told the mom this and I even pointed out how he son is depressed and she doesn't give a damn. The mom doesn't work at all because she was fired from her job. She sits at home all day collecting unemployment benefits doing nothing.

Nobody should be a parent if they expect someone else to raise their kids, even their own kids.

It's awful, but it happens. I came from a single parent household, and my mum had to work. Me and my older sister and I had to look after our younger sister and cousin

Me and my sister were working at 10, doing newspaper rounds. Then when we were 14 we where working in a restaurant

Then at 16 we worked fully whist we were in education.

Some parents just don't care, but for me, when I was growing up, we had such a rough childhood because we were poor.
